The photos could never do this place justice I highly recommend this walk. It’s nice and easy and very much worth it. I was lucky enough to go on a lovely day. The water looked amazing
Lovely walk through a rainforest type environment, well maintained and offering some amazing views. There were sand flies that liked a nibble at my legs though. Car parking and toilets were available and this was worth the 27km deviation from the main west coast route.

The river is just to beautiful. The water is so blue and the landscape here is amazing. They are building a new bridge since the second one is closed since a few months. But you can still go very far into the Gorge and even if it's dangerous and you can theoretical go swimming. But the water is freezing cold and some people died due to the cold water and the unforgiving current.
The Loop Track is closed from one Side but you can still go in and out from the other. Would recommend. The Water has the most amazing color I have seen in Nature to Date. Track is beautiful aswell.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Belle découverte, ne ratez pas ce spot si vous suivez la route west coast. Une partie du chemin est bloquée mais en 15-20min vous arrivez au point de vue et l’eau était d’un bleu vraiment magnifique malgré le temps couvert. Vaut le petit détour !
The short walk to the overlook is a little confusing as there is a blocked off trail and suspension bridge not shown on the map. The view is ok. A lovely easy walk with stunning views of the gorge - takes about 45 minutes - 1 hour total to walk to the end of the track and back. There is plenty of free parking and toilets in the parking area too. No booking or tickets needed to enter.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Disappointed the Hakitika Gorge Viewpoint is closed, but the Gorge Track is a nice easy hike through the forest across the suspension bridge to the "beach." The hike times are grossly exaggerated. The out and back track is only 2.4km and can be completed in 40 minutes with no stops.
