We absolutely loved our stay at Highlands on Homestead! Jenny was the loveliest host, we had the chance to take a stroll and meet her furry family in the morning and had fun learning more about them and feeding Smudge the Alpaca. We also got a surprise visit from Hokey Pokey the resident cat when we were chilling in the common area, he is such a sweetheart! The space was quiet, clean, comfy, tastefully furnished, warm and had everything we needed. Options for breakfast like toast, spreads, muesli, coffee, teas etc. were a bonus that we appreciated. Thank you Jenny and Andrew for hosting us!
An absolute mega find. Escape the madness. Superb for a couple or single traveller. Comfort with the little extras. Wonderful to see the highland cattle up so close.Rooms: 5/5
Jenny was lovely! She took us for a walk around the farm to feed the animals even it was raining also, she told us some tips and places to go that were wonderful! Thanks to her we saw blue penguins The apartment was excellent! Super quiet, comfy and clean! I loved the shower and the yummy breakfast thank you for the gluten free stuff for me! And regular ones for my partner. if we ever travel back we will definitely stay in Higland ofHomestead!
A fantastic little find - peaceful, tranquil, lovely friendly hosts - clean, well-equipped accommodation surrounded by beautiful gardens. The smell of country air, the birdsong and the added bonus of feeding the Peking Ducks, Alpacas and Highland cattle with Jenny was just wonderful - loved Smudge, one of the alpacas, and Betty, Beryl and Jaffa, the Highland cattle - a perfect little slice of paradise and only a 5 minute drive to Oamaru's main street.
We stayed at this lovely accommodation in Oamaru overnight. Great hosts and a wonderful experience! Beautiful little cottage type accommodation with a fabulous farm backdrop. Very clean and homely. Convenient location that was only a 5 minute drive to town and attractions. Fabulous experience being able to feed the animals with host in the morning. Next time we will stay longer
We've stayed at a number of places in Oamaru and Highlands on Homestead was by far our favourite! Jenny and Andrew are wonderful, kind hosts and their property is a little slice of heaven in a beautiful area. The accommodation itself was warm and cosy with everything we needed and the garden and farmland made for a very tranquil stay. We especially loved meeting their cute sheep, alpacas and fluffy cows <3 Definitely the best place to stay if you're visiting Oamaru!
Andrew and Jenny were wonderful hosts. So friendly and happy to help with suggestions of things to see. Cabin was beautifully decorated and very clean, had a friendly feel. Animals and gardens were an added extra. Would definitely recommend a couple of nights at Highlands on Homestead.
Jenny was very welcoming and took us around to feed the animals, which was lovely. It's a very relaxing little place, out of the way but still a quick drive into town. The room was nice, clean and modern with a comfy bed.
A quick one night stop on our way south. Next time will make it at least 2 nights. Spacious rooms with everything needed including some breakfast supplies. Spotlessly clean. Quiet location. Warm and cosy.Rooms: 5/5
I was lucky to have an amazing 'home away from home' for 16 weeks in this beautiful unit with the stunning backdrop of the gorgeous gardens and farm setting. Quiet, relaxing and fabulous hosts Andrew and Jenny who provided great hosting as well as a few extras including a place for my paddleboard and water and pond plants for a tadpole :- -they go the extra mile :- . I'm looking forward to returning in a few months. Highly recommend!
