Story

Herons Rest Boutique B&B sits on a hill midway between the famous Parua Bay Tavern and the village of Parua Bay. It is surrounded by magnificent scenery, with glimpses of the Whangarei Harbour as well as Parua Bay. The house sits on landscaped lawns and gardens and faces north/south. Most of the rooms have views of either the gardens or the magnificent Mt. Manaia and headlands.

The sunrises and sunsets here are truly magical.
It's a photographer and artist's paradise, with many bays and beaches surrounding us.
The city of Whangarei , with its Marina and Town Basin, boasts many cafes, restaurants, galleries and shops.
Herons Rest Boutique B&B is 2 kilometers from a well-known Golf Course and is only 12 kilometers from the Whangarei Airport.

Mission

David and Adrienne are not new to the B&B business.
They ran a very successful B&B in Raglan NZ for 3 years prior to coming to Northland, and Adrienne spent nearly ten years as B&B operator in Australia.
Our mission is to give friendly and professional service to our guests, making them feel comfortable and at home.

What a great stay this was. Upon arrival, the host was helpful and she provided us with some locally sourced breakfast that we very much enjoyed. The location is literally perfect! So close to everything. The space itself was clean and provided everything we needed. Right outside is such a peaceful scene near some water looking out in the city. We loved this place, 10/10 would stay here again!
We had the most amazing stay at the Herons Rest. It smelt like a spa when we arrived which was a welcome experience after a delayed flight. The hamper for breakfast was yummy, locally sourced goodies enabled us to have Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale before heading into town for the local market. The beds were comfy and the whole house was so clean. We loved all the little touches like deck chairs to sit on the long walk, the binoculars in each room. We enjoyed an evening drinking wine and looking out of the balcony window until dusk. It really was a special place and we can’t thank Maggie and her team enough

The Heron's Rest was the perfect spot for our family of five, and we loved our stay there. The home was spacious, clean, comfortable, but best of all was the location - so close to the Latin Quarter, we could walk to all the pubs and restaurants and sights. Also just over the bridge was the West End, and the Claddagh, and a short scenic walk to Salthill. We loved our stay at the Heron's Rest and would highly recommend it!
Hard to describe how idyllic this place is. My husband and I and our two daughters and one daughter’s fiancé shared this lovely waterfront townhouse on Galway’s Long Walk. Every room had a beautiful, relaxing view of the river rushing by, and we woke to the sound of seagulls. Heron’s Rest provides a stocked kitchen so we could make our breakfast at our own pace every morning — eggs, cheeses, sourdough bread, smoked salmon, granola, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee, tea, jam, fruit and everything we needed for our three-day stay. We were steps from the Spanish Arch and the Latin Quarter and also could walk to Salt Hill and other parts of the city. This stay was at the end of our travels around Ireland, and it was the perfect place to relax. We all fell in love with Heron’s Rest and Galway.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Herons Rest. The location was amazing and our host, Sorcha, was wonderful and had great suggestions on things to do from Galway. I would definitely stay there again.
