Great restaurant with many vegetarian and vegan options on offer. Of the ones we tried they were very creative and well executed. Staff were very friendly and service was exceptional. Only gripe was the tempah was too salty but that is probably a personal thing.
Visited Hector’s on the romantic Valentines Day for dinner. Shortly speaking everything was okay, except for one thing which disappointed a bit. We called on the number from the Hector’s website for reservations from where we’d been sent to another website for making a booking. There were few usual questions such a date, time, name along with a small notice about chef’s menu for tonight which was choice of two: classic or plant based dinner. In the comment section my partner mentioned that one of us is gluten intolerant and asked to make sure it’ll be taken care of. The booking deposit was $85 the cost of dinner excluding drinks which hasn’t been returned yet. We arrived at the restaurant and a waitress came to confirm that we are going to have classic gluten-free dinner, there we had to mention that we would like to have the plant based one. The lady was very confused and went away, then another person came back with the same question and we had to say the same again, for some reason it was a chaos. Few minutes later man in a different suit manager, we assume came to us with the print out of our booking, shaking papers in front or our faces and pointing his finger on the comment about gluten intolerance he blamed us for not mentioning anything about plant-based dinner. I’m sorry, but there weren’t question about it, the note said we can choose, so we thought we can choose when we arrive and have a look at options, and nowhere there it was said that we wanted to have classic version either, but the restaurant, apparently, precooks everything before customers even arrive, as it was such a trouble that they had to spend time trying to convince us that it was our fault. Anyway, thanks for feeding us in the end, even though after 4 course dinner we still were left hungry, but I guess it’s all supposed to be about the atmosphere in a place like this, which had its seams like long pauses between music in which we could hear staff talking loudly from quite far away. The best thing though I would say, is the vegan and gluten free options on the menu and the fact that the place is open for dinner. Maybe will come back to try something from everyday menu in a couple of years, but not for a special occasion.
OMG Amazing vegan menu! Definitely the best vegan food I have had to date. It was so delicious and creative. All vegans need to come, especially on "Meatless Mondays" where an all-inclusive vegan menu is on offer! Can't wait to bring family and friends. Thanks Hector chef you are just fantastic.
Went for the raw breakfast and it was nothing short of excellent. Food selection was substantial and all was very tasty. Coffee was also very good, which came as an added bonus. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommended if you want to experience a well made raw breakfast, in a relaxing environment
Great plant based menu and service. Staff were lovely although I think they need a little more training on the menu
Really great service, high quality food. Vegan and meat. The sticky date pudding was amazing.
Great vegan dishes! The deserts were amazing
Lots of clearly labelled vegan options on the menu. However, the planked tofu was not very tasty despite the diversity of ingredients, as an entree. The main, pumpkin ravioli, was very good but quite small for a $30 dish. Most of the waiters were trainees and they were full of good will but really lacked experience. Over all I expected much better food and service for the price.
Best vegan breakfast we ever had - absolutely amazing! The choices are comprehensive, there is no vegan or gluten free option missing. The yoghurts and chutneys are dreamlike, so is the gluten free bread. And don‘t miss out on the various granolas, they are delicious! Definitely worth the travel - very decent price-performance ratio. Welcoming and friendly staff.
I went to Hectors because they boasted a plant based buffet. The plant based buffet is focused around a bowl of apples and oranges, salad fixings, chai pudding and a few spreads which seem equal to jams and chutney. The plant based buffet lacks an understanding of how to create a holistic plant based diet and any innovation. It was very difficult to create a meal with the items available on this menu. My friends order pancakes which arrived cold. The food wasn't great but it was quite pricey considering the lack of quality and cohesiveness. The atmosphere looks cool in the photos but really just has a hotel feel to it. The service was decent though. While it wasn't a terrible experience I couldn't recommend Hectors and wouldn't return.
