Heartland Eco Retreat is an off-grid, Far North holiday home, which sleeps 10 people, and is nestled within a tranquil glade in the Herekino Forest.
Get off the grid and back to nature at Heartland Eco Retreat!
This one-of-a-kind Far North holiday home is nestled within a tranquil forest glade at the base of the mighty Orowhahana Mountain, deep inside the Herekino Forest.
Surrounded by fresh water, native bush and birdsong, it’s the ultimate place to “drop out” and enjoy complete peace, privacy and total serenity.
A cluster of four buildings - the main ones of which are made from earth cement, in the same bohemian style made famous by Northland’s Kawakawa-based artist Hunderwasser - each enjoys a view of the tranquil, heart-shaped pond, fed by a mountain spring.
Soak under the light of the Milky Way in the earth cement hot tub, stoke the outdoor fireplace, dine alfresco on the large Spanish-style patio of the main house, devour crispy woodfired pizzas, straight from the pizza oven and sunbathe on the white-sand beach beside the pond.
Heartland Eco Retreat is conveniently located on the main west coast highway in Northland - between the Hokianga Harbour and Ahipara. It is just a short 15-minute drive from Ahipara and the entrance to 90-Mile Beach and only 23 minutes to Kaitaia, where supermarkets are available to top up supplies.
An ideal base to explore the stunning Far North, a “back to nature” family holiday with the kids or for artists and writers seeking a truly creative retreat.
