Story

The Hawkes Bay Farmyard Zoo was established in February 2004, since then it has become recognised as one of the leading attractions for both tourists and groups in Hawkes Bay. Known for its unique atmosphere and educational opportunities the Zoo also provides a safe, clean environment with informative signage, limestone walkways, and a picnic area to accommodate large groups such as Birthdays, work functions, and Christmas parties alike.

Bring a picnic or have a BBQ under one of the sheltered picnic tables. We have a great playground and food to feed the animals.You can enjoy close interaction with them in a clean safe environment.

There are lots of horses at the Zoo. We have pony rides for the children, daily Riding Lessons, Holiday Programs or you can book one of our 5 Horse Treks ranging from 1Hr – 3 Hrs which include Beach, Vineyard, River, or Hill Country Treks.

Great place to visit. Friendly staff and family friendly place. Lots of things to do - look at and feed the animals, ride on a pony, go on the train ride, and feed the lambs milk. There's a playground, toilet, and picnic tables there so plenty of facilities for a day out.

Fantastic place. My little one apsolutly loved it. Altho if you want to take your family it gets a little pricey unfortunately, per person adds up fast. But was a wonderful experience. Especially loved the Llama's and talking parrots
I had a great time there! If you have kids, this is just paradise for them! About 1h hanging around, feeding all kinds of cute animals. The staff is very friendly. Most of animals seem to be happy, however I was wondering why some of them are living in very small spaces some sheeps/rams live in about 2m².. this is a bit sad..
The kids loved it and so did I. Awesome place to come with the little ones and learn a lot about some animals. Great time !!
We really enjoyed our time today at the Farmyard Zoo. Our two year old daughter has been telling everyone she meets for weeks that she's going to go in a campervan and ride a pony. She was pretty hesitant at first when the time came but the staff were so helpful and she had a great first ride on a pony and it's been one of the highlights of our trip so far. We loved seeing and interacting with all the different animals especially seeing unique animals that we've never seen or heard of before such as many types of pheasants and the Cape Barren Goose. Thank you for the great family time together.

Had some spare time driving past and decided to drop in . Enough parking for a motorhome . Got toilets average . Price not bad . Some of the animals , like me should be retired . As a retired farmer the fences , outbuildings where lacking maintenance. The Farm Yard Zoo i believe has been up and running for 25years
So much fun. Love that we can feed most of the animals and they are all friendly. The staff are really lovely. Great experience
