Harkleah Meadows is a private boarding retreat located in the peaceful Horowhenua countryside for your beloved pet canine to enjoy and holiday within.

Set amongst a 12-acre paradise and with 24-hour animal care always available, all staff at Harkleah Meadows takes pride in providing a full service to adequately meet all your canines’ needs.

Harkleah Meadows offer a relaxing but fun holiday for your pet in the country surrounded by loads of trees, sun and shade. They assure your canine will be able to enjoy exercise, long walks, romp around in large grass runs and play with fellow guests or rest under a shady tree while on vacation at their kennels.

Plus all kennels feature extra large individual runs which are all undercover and guarantee luxury for your dog. Also warm rooms for those Winter months. Harkleah Meadows owner operator is also a member of the NZ Kennel Club to ensure premium facilities and quality accommodation.

A "K9 Shuttle" service operates twice per week in the evenings to Wellington and en route.

Our preferred kennels. We've used Harkleah several times, and have just booked for another visit. They make it easy as pie, and our dog always comes away cheerful and relaxed. Great value for great service.

Our puppy Jojo 1 yo, 35 kg just spent 15 days with Peter and his professional stuff. Jojo returned different dog, confident and much more obedient in good health and full of muscle : Jojo had severe separation anxiety and fear anxiety and Peter managed those with high level of professionalism and experience. We have a lab X dog and he can be a handful at times but Peter just has a way with dogs and I feel 100% confident sending him to Harkleah Meadows. Peter is a very passionate and professional kennel owner with the best facilities available to keep your dog safe and happy. There is a section for smaller dogs a d a section for larger dogs. There is also a loop run so your dog can run and play. Top quality food and warm clean kennels.
After trying many kennels over many years, finally I have found a kennel that both my dogs and I love immensely. Beautiful natural surroundings, lots of trees on large private lifestyle block. Lovingly individually cared for in soothing dog family atmosphere, playing together where appropriate, not just locked in kennel except for exercise time. Going for two 1 mile walks a day. No need for a bath before being returned to you...always suspicious of this. Absolutely top dog food..natural ingredients for dogs and carefully researched. Happy dogs + happy me!! Can't recommend highly enough.
We have been taking our dogs, miniature dachshund and Border Terriers, to Peter at Harkleah Meadows for many years. He has a wonderful facility and truly cares for dogs. See his own collection of rejoined dogs as an example. You don't see Kennels with dog loungers, TV and a wood fire in the winter. Peter also delivers and collects dogs and we have used his service when the timing suits. As far as we are aware this is the best Kennels in the lower North Island.

My 2 dogs have stayed at Harkleigh Meadows when I'm away for about 4 years. I wish I'd known about this place years ago when we went away more often. They get to socialise with similar sized dogs and in winter, they even have the warmth of a wood burner in their sleeping quarters. I would thoroughly recommend.
