Story

Twiss-Keir Realty has a history stretching back to the early days of Harcourts entering the Canterbury Market. In 1985 Geoffrey Twiss opened what was the 7th office for Harcourts in Canterbury – creating a legacy that has stretched 30 years and counting.

Geoffrey expanded the operation into Kaiapoi in the late 1980’s opening Hanmer Springs not long after. The operation had become an award winning business in the group and when Harcourts approached Geoffrey to offer him the franchise in 1991 it was one of the jewels in the regions crown.

Geoffrey expanded further to Belfast and in 1997 brought in business partner Nigel Keir to open another operation in Shirley. With a unique town and rural/lifestyle business Twiss-Keir had the best of country and the city’s north side within its franchise boundaries.

Sadly Geoffrey passed away in early 2002 leaving a thriving business with Nigel at the helm. Within 18 months James Twiss was running the business and in 2007 brought a share along with Greg Roberts.

Twiss-Keir now commands the highest market share in all markets it operates in, having over 56 salespeople in four locations it is the largest and most successful real estate company operating in North Canterbury and the North side of Christchurch.
