Superb motel with very friendly and helpful staff. The motel was super tidy and clean. There was a lot of attention paid to details such as the decorations and the fireplace on in the morning. Beautiful kitchen and great space in the lounge. Nice outdoor seating area.nnWe would definitely return here anytime we are back in Hanmer Springs.
4th visit here, and every time I am amazed at how clean, fresh and tidy the entire property, inside and out, is.nThe beds are comfy, the kitchen spotless.nI must admit, it has always been summertime visits - so haven't had the opportunity to test the heat of the inviting looking woodburned in the main foyer area. But I can gather over winter ski season this would be amazing.nThe hosts are a friendly family, who obviously take great pride in presenting their business to what I could call The Gold-Standard for cleanliness and comfort.nTowels are available for those in dorms for a small fee $2.00 as at Feb 2025 and are provided free of charge for those in private rooms.nBicycles are available for hire at a reasonable cost booking needed and there is also an on-site watch repair available.nThere is also a nice outdoor bbq area, including tables etc to sit and soak up the sun.nIt's a casual 10-minute stroll to the famous hot-pools, and the township with many restaurants, bars and cafes.nHanmer Springs has much to offer, and Kakapo Lodge is where you can relax and unwind afterwards at a price that is budget friendly nI am certianly happy to rebook here at any opportunity, and can highly recommend this facility nnDisliked · Sandflies/mozzies - be sure to bring repellent as Hanmer Springs has lots of these little suckers
The place was very clean and the room was nice. Only downside is if you’re a light sleep you hear everything going on thin walls. Very close to everything, like a 2 minute walk to the pools
Lovely owners! They let me stay in the lounge to wait for my bus even after checkout times. Beds were comfy, rooms were nice, good facilities and the bike hire was a great price.
Absolutely wonderful place! The first thing you notice is how clean and orderly everything is. The place has a nice outdoor area that gets plenty of sun all day. The rooms are clean, and comfortable. There is a really big kitchen with everything provided for you. Upstairs there is a great tv room with plenty of board games. No complaints about the toilets and showers. Great pressure with plenty of hot water. The hosts are amazing, and very helpful. The location is as good as it gets. Situated about 100m from the start of the main stip in town. I can walk for 2min in one straight line and be right outfront of the hot pools. They also hire mountain bikes at a very reasonable rate. Overall, this place is well worth a visit.
