The rooms were a bit old fashioned, the whole place could do with a wee renovation, but we still really loved the place, the people and the food. The landscaping was gorgeous and it felt like we were back on holiday in France. Everything was reasonably priced, and the pool was a blast for the kids. The staff were SO lovely and friendly, and happy to chat about anything whenever. We really really loved our stay, and will definitely be going back during winter next time. It’s got such a winter lodge charm, kid of like the Chalet in Whakapapa
Wonderful stay. Quiet room with comfortable bed. Everything clean and soft. Enjoyed the old fashioned charm. Continental breakfast was simple but perfect - waitress was super helpful with a jug of soy milk. Also got an early check in around 12.30pm - always worth asking!
What an incredible experience - from staff to food, room and beautiful gardens!nWe ate in hotel restaurant all three nights, which is extremely unusual for us as we like to try other restaurants. However, my food was so good Salmon night one, I just had to come back night two Eye Fillet and then couldn't resist night three and try the good ole burger! 3/3 Excellent meals.nnOur garden suite was absolutely lovely too.nnThe staff were all welcoming and so helpful and friendly.nnWe'll most certainly be back!nnThank you for a memorable and fabulous stay!
My partner surprised me with a stay here and it was lovely. The apartments are well furnished, immaculately clean, and charming. There is a pool to relax in with a beautiful view of Conical Hill. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the center of town.
Great location, but definitely not a 4 star hotel. Very dated rooms & bathrooms, as another review said poor soundproofing.nnThe gardens were beautiful, reception were easy to deal with, and let me put my motorbike undercover on the back patio which was nice of them … but what brought this down to 3 stars was the surprise extra cost of breakfast - to get a ‘cooked breakfast’, some very sad looking scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon etc. you need to pay an extra $18 per person, even if you paid for breakfast as part of your booking.nnThe woman there was obsessive chasing people down checking their room numbers for the ‘cooked breakfast’ it was sad but funny. I’d say there’s better places in the town.
