thanks so much we had a lovely rainy night in our van at ur place. everyone was SO friendly, the space was very beautiful & sustainable & toilets & sinks clean. we ll come again if in golden bay and in new zealand and send love
I had the most amazing time here, if you are a climber you need to visit this campsite. There is an amazing community here and the managers really do a beautiful job to keep that community alive. And the crag is just around the corner! Besides the crag there are also two very lovely swimming holes nearby, one with a very fun rope swing :nnThe campsite has everything you need, a free cold shower $2 for a hot shower, a place to charge your phone, a fridge and a sheltered place to cook need to bring your own cooking equipment, there's also a firepit and a wood oven for pizza!nnAfter 4 weeks i really didn't want to leave this place behind, thank you HangDog for the amazing time!
Good location near takaka and friendly owners.nnHowever be aware that there is one stovetop which you can only use if you are staying in the bunks. If you are camping, there is one small cooking bench.nnOnly one spot in the campsite with power, which is the office, so charging electronics is a hassle.nnThere is one shower which you have to pay extra for a few dollars for a couple minutes, and two toilets, one of which was unusable because it was disgusting.nnSmall area so tents are bunched together, if you can find a spot far enough from the highway because the road noise is loud at night. There are no allocated tent sites. Same goes for carparks.nnOur stay was worsened by the fact that there was no hot water for the duration of our time, so we had to use the public showers in takaka.nnIt is way overpriced for what you get at $20pppn. Because you’re essentially just paying to keep your food cold in a very cramped fridge. You can get everything else for free or very cheap in takaka.nnThe only positive is the location, it’s close to swimming holes, crags, and takaka. Only stay here if you’re very outdoorsy, love climbing, and well equipped.
Amazing climbers’ camp, super close to the crag – you can’t ask for a better location.nThe people running the place are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to help and create a really nice vibe.nGreat atmosphere, excellent equipment, and everything feels thought out for climbers.nYou instantly feel comfortable and part of the community.n100% recommended, I’d definitely come back!
Hosts were welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic. We didn't realise this was a climbers' camp, but fortunately we were still able to spend a night as we passed through to Abel Tasman NP.nRustic but clean facilities, very green and shaded in by big trees
