Story

Der Hamilton-Neuseeland Tempel ist der elfte Tempel der Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der Letzten Tage. Er steht in einem Vorort knapp außerhalb von Hamilton und wurde in einem modernen Stil mit nur einem Turm gebaut, ähnlich dem Bern-Tempel. Er war der erste in der südlichen Hemisphäre und nach dem Bern-Tempel der zweite außerhalb Nordamerikas.
Der Tempel hat 4.107 Quadratmeter Nutzfläche, einen Endowment-, drei Siegelungsräume und ein Baptisterium. Der Turm ist 48 Meter hoch und einer der wenigen, die keinen Engel Moroni tragen, wie sonst üblich bei dieser Konfession. Der Tempel wurde vollständig in freiwilliger Arbeit von mormonischen Missionaren errichtet, wobei sie von Kirchenmitgliedern aus der Region mit Geld, Verpflegung und Unterkunft unterstützt wurden. Vor der Weihung war der Tempel vom 28. März bis zum 19. April 1958 der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich und wurde in dieser Zeit von 112.500 Menschen besichtigt.

Absolutely beautiful location. The views from the temple are lovely. The missionaries inside are friendly and helpful. There is so much beautiful artwork and information in the visitors center. I loved this place!

At Christmas the gardens on the hill leading to the temple are decorated with fairy lights. Quite spectacular.Although the temple was closed, we thoroughly enjoyed walking the nearby Labour Missionary park. It was serene and beautiful with a sense of history. We can't wait to return when the temple is open.
LOVE going here. Can't wait until it reopens. In the meantime I enjoy the visitors center, museum and the kids play area
It is an extremely opulent expensive shiny golden glowing symbol of everything Jesus Christ was NOT about. Austrian crystal chandeliers? Is that where my hardworking parents ten percent tithing went while we kids had holes in our op shop shoes? Wickedness and debauchery at its worst.
Very peaceful. All of the temple workers were friendly and very helpful.
