Hamilton Junior High School is a 'middle school' which caters for Year 7 to 10 students. Our programme is engaging and dynamic which 'hook' emerging adolescents into learning. Our programmes develop well rounded and collaborative learners through engaging in motivating students to meet their academic, cultural, social, physical and emotional needs. Our delivery focuses on students maintaining a close learning relationships with teachers and having students' needs recognised and met through an individualised approach.
Year 7 to 10 is a time of personal development. We pride ourselves on providing a safe and secure environment for our students. We see our school as a family orientated school providing opportunities for the development of respectful relationships.
Our 4 year teaching programme means that we have a better opportunity to get to know our students as learners and that we have a greater opportunity to meet their learning needs whilst they are with us.
Students are organised into collaborative modern learning spaces with a team of teachers who they develop strong relationships in order to support their learning. We have a Year 7 learning Hub and a Year 8/9/10 learning Hub. Hubs are organised collaboratively as a team, with a leader responsible for each. The Hubs forster a team approach to ensure all students make progress with their learning and achievement.
An additional support for your child is Whanau Time. Each student is allocated a Whanau class and teacher when they start at our school. This teacher will support and guide your child for the 4 years that they are at our school. During Whanau time we use goal setting, academic mentoring, pastoral guidance and support as well as relationship building to effectively support and guide your child to reach their full potential.
Each component of our school works together with others to provide a motivating and positive learning community for our students. The school climate is warm, friendly and welcoming.
