Great points:n1 Friendly and helpful staffn2 Very comfortable mattressn3 Budget friendlynnHad a nice time here and would recommend others!nnIf I have to find something constructive, that would be that the rooms were a bit tiny, but of you are exploring the city during the day, it should not trouble you. The mattress and beds were good and I had a good sleep there.
For the price and our needs, it was perfect.nnSmall rooms but clean and super comfy beds. They didn't have a room available for us for both nights this weekend but made a plan and we were prepared to move from one to another for each night so that we could stay - hassle free. Clean communal bathrooms. Great coffee for sale at the machine in the communal kitchen.nSimple accommodation at a good price - thank you for having our big crowd!!
Good stay overall! Stayed in dorm room and bed for one night and had a great sleep with clean linen.nnPros:nNice renovated rooms with charging ports and privacy curtainsnOther guests were respectful and quiet in the evening.nnCons:nBathroom men’s showers were quite dirty with mould on the walls.nBring air plugs as footsteps from upstairs rooms continues into the night.nLittle airflow in the room - no fan or air conditioning so can get stuffy if a warm night.
Tiny rooms, but everything was clean and well organised. Lots of parking space. We had to do last minute booking, so we payed way more than reasonable for a hostel room.
Disappointing Stay – Avoid if PossiblennMy stay at this hostel was far from pleasant. Here’s why:nnNo Lift for BagsnIt’s shocking that a hostel with multiple floors doesn’t have a lift, and this wasn’t mentioned anywhere. To make it worse, I was allocated a room upstairs and had to carry over 30kg of luggage up old, steep stairs.nnNo Fan or Air ConditioningnThe reception was hot and stuffy when I arrived, which should have been a warning sign. My room was even worse—extremely hot, with only a small, barely functional window for ventilation. This is unacceptable, especially in summer.nnMissing EssentialsnAfter checking in, I went for a shower only to discover the body wash container was empty. For a “newly cleaned” room, this was a major letdown. Providing basic toiletries should be standard.nnRude and Unprofessional StaffnWhen I arrived, the reception was unattended for 15 minutes. When the staff member finally showed up, I greeted him but received no response. I tried again the next day and was ignored again. Not a single staff member managed even a fake smile during my stay. They looked angry, unapproachable, and clearly lacked training in hospitality. One staff member, in particular, was especially rude.nnFaulty HeaternThe heater in my room was broken and stuck on, making the room unbearably hot. When I complained, the staff acknowledged they were aware of the issue but did nothing. Reception was closed early, so I had to hunt down a staff member working in the laundry, who told me there was nothing they could do. The next day, the receptionist feigned ignorance of the problem and finally offered me a fan.nnThis hostel was a complete waste of money and ruined my stay in Rotorua. It’s poorly managed, uncomfortable, and the staff lack basic courtesy. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
