The Wellington Sikh community dates its organised society to 1991, with the gurdwara initially based in Porirua before moving to Naenae as the community grew.nnThe present building has an unusual history: it was formerly a New World supermarket, purchased in 2015 and extensively converted and earthquake strengthened with considerable volunteer involvement. It officially opened in November 2016 and became the largest Sikh temple in the lower North Island. The distinctive golden domes were imported from India.nnIt is a welcoming place. Head scarfs are available by the shoe racks to wear before entering the main temple areas.
I love the experience and enjoyed interacting with the Sikh community, at the NaenaeTemple, the Temple was being used to host Covid Vaccinations event, I was their for my booster shot, I was warmly greeted and invited to enter the Temple after removing my shoes, shown around the facility and offered lunch which I thoroughly enjoyed, good experience, enjoying Cha, Bahttti, Curry and Ladoo, lovely clean and pleasant experience and well worth 5 stars

I found my place for inner peace.nA place where I don't worry about anything, just enjoy my own company and share my thoughts with WAHEGURU G.nNever-ending food available for body and soul.
We lived across from the temple for a year. We were invited to their open days but were too shy to go. The people were respectful. Always felt good hearing them during a big gathering, got good vibes. It opened my eyes to a different religion in a good way. I wish them well
