Only there overnight as on the train. But we would like to come back and stay for awhile. We have visited many times just passing through, but it has more to offer. Did the Kowhai walk, enjoyed the birds who appeared interested in us as much as we were interested in them. Walked the main street. Was moved by the monument dedicated to miners who have lost their lives due to mining in the area. Stayed at Global Village which is a hostel, we had a private room. I would say its one of the best hostels in the world.
Greymouth Train Station, where you can ride the TrainAlpine Scenic Train Journey to and from Christchurch. Small Station, but has toilets and the Rental Car companies located inside to pick up the keys. Cars are located a short walk outside the station across the road
A busy and bustling station, as compared to the stations we passed. It is right next to the town so there’s lots to see around.
