We stayed here for a week. The service is terrible as you have to book it in, which you get told they are booked out constantly for a service you are paying for! We ended up getting our own toilet paper and other ammenities from the supermarket! We booked a double bed but it was just two singles pushed together, so one of us kept falling between the two in the middle of the night! The bed’s are also so hard you may as well sleep on the floor, especially if you sleep on your side! We mainly booked here for the hot tubs but it’s extremely hard to get as they also rent it to the public and works on a first in first served basis! The lady who works behind the bar is terribly rude and acts as if she doesn’t want to be there at all! We also checked out a day earlier than we had payed so we could have a decent nights sleep in a motel elsewhere! No one even asked a question why we were leaving early!! Definitely not a four star hotel as the restaurant is only open for two hours at night and only sells pizza and absolutely nothing on their menu! Would not recommend at all!!! Stay anywhere else in Wanaka, especially for the price you pay here!! Be warned!!
Great hotel with amazing views and very helpful team. Fast service even after shortage of staff, very hardworking team. Customer service at reception is great. Food is delicious, little expensive but I guess every food place in Wanaka is very expensive anyways. Sauna, hot tubs and gym were blissful. Definitely recommend this place, any problems ask staff, they are always helpful.
Great leisure facilities and clean rooms. No air conditioning in rooms made the rooms uncomfortably stuffy with these Summer temperatures. A fan was provided which helped. Most of the king rooms do not have any patio or balcony areas to sit outside so I’d recommend only booking a room that has this feature. Lovely clean pools however in need of repainting of the top pools and re-lining of the bottom pool as skin is coming away. Very friendly morning restaurant supervisor male and female in the afternoons.
I visited New Zealand during a busy time of year summer holidays, but this was one of the most expensive hotels I stayed in on my entire trip due to lack of supply in Wanaka. I was not impressed with the hotel overall. The room was very warm and I did not see any fans that would help I did not try asking for a fan so unsure if that would have worked. The front door of the room is frosted glass with no curtain and I was woken up very early due to blinding sun coming through that with no way to block it. I feel they could vastly improve their rooms during summer at limited cost by adding fans and curtains. I did like the many hot tubs they had, although would have appreciated if they were open later.
The place is old and rooms are run down. The location is good, only 5mins drive from the lake, they have plenty of parking and staff were nice. The pool is nice and so are the hot tubs. I am sure they will feel amazing when using them in winter.Rooms: 2/5
Room was overpriced and tiny. We had to look 4 times over around 5 hours to get into one of the available spas as there was no where near enough facilities to cater for the amount of people on sight. It was made worse by the fact people weren't leaving the hot tubs, would highly recommend a time limit on the spas to management. Hotel placement is a little bit of a non event, not really close to anything at all, both town or scenery. Parking was weird, 3 villas sharing one carpark??. Wouldn't stay again.
Bed was comfy however, the heater I. The lounge area was broken during winter the room was not clean, there was dust everywhere, the bathroom was grubby, and the entire place was in need of refurbishment for the price we paid. The tv remote was flat, there were blunt knives in the kitchen which made it difficult to cook/prepare food. I also called reception our first night to request ice and was hung up on by reception. The power also went out on our last night, the hotel staff knocked on our door then entered straight away without waiting which was a bit of a shock at 8.30am whilst still in bed trying to enjoy our holiday. Finally, upon leaving and returning the keys there was no attempt to check how our stay had gone. All and all for the hefty price we paid per night we would not stay again and are currently at peppers in tekapo for the same room type and price and it absolutely knocks it out if the park. Understand covid has made things difficult for the hospitality industry but when you want to support tourism in your own country and have also dealt with the effects of covid, it wouldn’t take much to improve your amenities and service.
If you need wifi, as most travelers do, do not stay here. Wifi did not work at all. Thank goodness we only stayed one night. Dirty as well. Long hairs stuck to the wall behind the bathroom door. Zero light blockage, so if you want a good nights sleep, you’ll be woken up at the crack of dawn by the light streaming in through the door window.
- No roomservice - WiFi was only working 30% of the time - Rooms very small - King bed is two singles pushed together with a big crack in between + Gym is really nice, well equipped! + Sauna and hot tubs are epic + Staff is friendly and helpful + Lots of space for parking Nearby activities: Kitesurfing on lake hawea, Paragliding from treble coan, lots of hiking, walking at the water Front, lots of Cafés and Restaurants :
Tiny dark room with only windows facing the car park. Curtain rack was broken. Outside light visible all night. Walls paper thin and it wasn’t their fault as it was a family but only a locked door separating room from neighbours and we could hear their every word and cutlery rattle. No coffee pot, multiple black hairs in bath tub and on bathroom floor. Cleaners knocked loudly on door at 9am - why? We were only staying one night and clearly not ready to leave yet….Budget accommodation that cost $199 per night! Woman at reception was very nice though.
