Went to Golden Wok for the first time tonight. Truly an asset to upper Hataitai. The cheeseburger was one of the best I've ever had from a takeaway shop, with juicy patty, cheese melted, onions caramelised and not too much sauce. Will be coming back for sure to try their chips!
Mate, If you're in the market for one of the best fish and chip shop burgers, look no further. The burgers are better than most burger shops in Wellington and half the bloody price Big fan of the bacon cheeseburger. This place is 10/10, can also recommend the chips and the deep fried mars bars
When I read reviews for this takeaway I thought they were exaggerating and it must be overhyped, but seriously The Golden Wok is my favourite takeaway in all of Wellington and this is coming from a ‘foodie’. Chips are always perfect, rice and noodle meals are fresh and taste amazing and the portions are huge. Staff are always friendly and never have to wait long. This is worth the walk from Roseneath for me every time...!
Favourite takeaway shop in welly! The burgers here rival some of the more gourmet takeaway chains. Chips are always perfectly cooked. Stuffed mushrooms and deep fried dim sum are amazing. Stir frys and soups are almost enough for two. You'll at least get a lunch the next day!
Recently purchased a meal of fries, burgers and battered fish from Golden Wok. The food was cooked perfectly, I don't think fries can get much better than what we were served. The burgers used nice fresh vegetables and the fish was great. Would recommend to anyone, great stuff!
Every time is a good time here! Gr8 fish n chip fare served up and presented by some gr8 people. They make sure I don't forget my fizz when I get the $9.50 pack - and YOU KNOW they are including an extra pot frit or two delicious crispy golden medallions Golden Wok - I'm lovin' it :
Golden Wok are the best in town and believe me Ive eaten a lot of burgers, especially the cheese burger. The Foo yongs are very generous and the vegetables always are fresh. My Dad loves the crumbed fish best of all.
Best burgers I've ever had from a fish and chip shop, maybe even from any kind of shop.. also always generous with the potato fritties, one time I ordered two and got about 6, couldn't believe my luck. Friendly folks, give em a visit if you're in the neighbourhood
This was our local fish and chip shop until we moved recently. At the moment, I am currently sitting in front of a lump of greasy fish and chips purchased from our new local store in the new neighbourhood. We have sampled from all of the other stores in our vicinity and nothing comes close to the AMAZING Golden Wok. We are going to start making the longer drive back to The Golden Wok now. Please forgive us for ever trying something else.
I've had my fair share of Fish & Chips across Aotearoa and believe me this is some of the most spectacular deep fried cuisine i've ever had. Firstly, and most importantly, any F 'n' C shop should pride itself in its chips and by no means have they skipped that. I found each and every chip to the most finest quality, having the perfect crunch providing maximum audial aesthetic to my meal. Visually each chip had an astonishing standard of beauty, cut from the finest potatoes. Each time I continue to go back and unwrap the magnificent packaging, the golden beams shine upon my retinas and light the room. Overall i'd pose the hospitality to be near philanthropic the way I come out of that store each time. As per the rest of the menu I'm not to fond of fish or most meat so really couldn't comment on that side of things.
