The hidden treasure of Mapua. Located at the historic Mapua Wharf, Golden Bear Brewing is a great place to chill out with friends, savour craft brewed beers and enjoy fresh Mexican food.

Golden Bear Brewing is the creation of Jim and Anne Matranga. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Jim enjoys access to the fantastic hops grown right here in Tasman and produces a range of beers to showcase them.

Nachos were plentiful and tasty, and exactly what I was looking for. Went well with the fat toad ale. Bar staff were delightful and helpful. I hadn't been in for a while as the staff used to be much less welcoming, but I am very glad to have gone there today. I will be back.

Pleasant surprise! I live close to here but hadn't got around to visiting, glad I did. Beer, food and entertainment! It's a about the simple pleasures in life.
We didn't mind waiting 45min for our meal but we did mind that our shared meal of nachos was all just a big bowl corn chips with minimal mince with no flavor. The staff were lovely and doing the best they could, and we got a $20 refund for the bowl of chips as we didn't eat the meal. Very disappointed we left hungry.
Bought beer to take away. Was good quality. Bar looked like a good place to have a drink by the river.
We will certainly be revisiting The Golden Bear soon! Excellent range of boutique brewed beers plus delicious food and friendly service! Highly recommend the spare-ribs - YUM!!!
The best garlic bread I’ve ever had. Food is good value for serving size. Great lunch stop for the great taste trail.
Brilliant!! Great bear and great cold beer also really nice food with brilliant service. We will certainly be calling in again.
