Mixed bag. Some new, reasonable products. Other exhibitors call into question the integrity of the event examples - hello fresh is not fresh and has a high packaging waste model, wcc is not sustainable in what they do...so much waste on infrastructure being redone due to poor quality and they ironically fail to make it an option for homeowners to use some of the more sustainable proven building products from overseas. Go green should be looking closer at exhibitors to ensure they are actually green and not just sales people. Carparking was expensive $10/hr on a sunday?!....the buses in my area were again not running so driving was the only option.
Some companies/products were fascinating. However, there was also a LOT of pseudoscience and green washing. How is that even allowed?
I have just returned from the March 28th expo and overall it had been a productive, pleasant experience. I mainly went there to gather information, and capture ideas. I have learnt a lot from just a handful of speakers at the exhibition. Very grateful of the attempt of nzers providing this event and opportunity for those that are really serious in trying to improve the planet and wanting alternative ways to live to become more sustainable. It was also a very good way to raise awareness about what is happening around not just the world itself but NZ and what we can do to help it. Unfortunately there were more shoppers than listeners, and the expo seemed to have catered more for people to eat and shop, rather than to listen and spread the more important idea about the show: which was how we can live a greener life. I was rather disappointed that there was literally around two stalls that were related to gardening. Growing in your gardens or even in a small space for self production I thought is a brilliant idea to empower people to do, and I'm surprised at the amount of stalls there that were selling edibles such as vegan balls, coffee products, probiotic yoghurts, tea, began snacks etc - yes they have their bit, but some are definitely not sustainable and unfortunately shy off the sustainable category. One time use food testers.. bins of them, just like that and it goes into landfill. Nonetheless I definitely benefited from this experience and bought myself an amazing compost box. It was not cheap, but it is totally worth it. Thank you for whoever organized this event, despite some of the poor choices in companies allowed to be there. I am looking for the next closest thing and reap more information.
Always full of health pseudoscience, and misinformation.
