Story

Glen Eden Intermediate School is a state Co-Educational Intermediate school located just north of Titirangi in the small suburb of Kaurilands in Auckland, New Zealand. The school roll fluctuates around 1050 students. Evidently the school is an attractive choice for year 7-8 students as the school has implemented a zoning system. In-zone suburbs include Titirangi, Laingholm, most of Glen Eden and nearby Konini and Kaurilands. The school was divided into 8 syndicates, all named after New Zealand trees, each with four classrooms (except the "Manuka" syndicate which held five). In 2010, G.E.I.S. replaced the syndicates with four "mini-schools": Te Henga, Karekare, Muriwai and Piha. All are named after the West Coast beaches and have 8 classes. All four mini-schools have one enhanced learning class; four year seven classes and four year eight classes. The school now separates year 7s and 8s, although in 2009 they had composite classes. In the mid 1990s, the school built a technology block which now teaches one mini-school everyday and has eight classes: Food technology, Design technology, Sound arts, Dramatic arts, Visual art, Hard materials, Textiles technology, and Video production. The video production room is also the headquarters of "Cactus", the school's daily TV show which only broadcasts throughout the school. The school also has a Radio Station; T.N.T (Totally Not Television). In late 2004-2005, the school added an auditorium which was later merged with the administration block, this is now an outstanding figure at the front of the school and covers almost as much area as their gym which they have become well known for.

A review a few months over due but... MARK MY WORDS this is not a good school... It's way to revolved around sports, If you're child is not a sporty or a social person don't send them here. They will most likely struggle from lack of support and will end up with deteriorating social and academic skills, not a good way to go into High School. This is because of basically no helpful academic learning, I can't re-call a single thing I learn't during the time I was there. The teachers are also pretty mid if not straight up bad, and the school does almost nothing about the bullying going around. Jan Peach is kind of nice though, bless her soul from having to work at such an awful school. - From A former G.E.I.S student
At this school you either have to be really sporty or the literal smartest person in New Zealand if you want to be treated respectfully. The student environment is not great, with some kids basically being enabled in their jackass stunts. The teachers always seem to favourite the strangest people and hate others. People will sometimes steal your stuff and the facilities are not very clean. In my time here, both me and many of my friends have mentally struggled.
socially, most chaotic and funny school ive been to so far however teachers could be better. one time where ms pitcher decided to tell my indian friend that she couldnt wear her kautuka because it wasn't 'taonga' like istg she thinks taonga is just another word for ponamu atp ‍
Miss Pitcher ruined my year 8 experience here a couple years ago. I loved year 7, but, omg, she really made me have a horrible year. I witnessed kids in my class get bullied in front of her, and she wouldn't do anything. Let's just say she took her bad days out on us.
Ms pitcher is the worst teacher ruins everyone’s time at glen eden. I went to glen eden quite a while ago and had the worst year, he loved his year there at year 7, but it made a big turn in year 8. Also mr prisk is a very rude person and ruins people life’s there two
This school is very bad, the school doesn’t do anything about bullying and have very rude teachers eg: Nicola Pitcher. My son was getting bullied when we tell the teacher she just ignored at end my son was Hurt. Not recommended.
This school is over ratted and I don’t recommend there has been drugs sold at the school by the students and that child is still going to school there. The teachers are sexiest and some of them can be really rude and this is coming from a student perspective. They are unfair they expelled a student after one offence and a student has made over 5 and is still at the school. There have been lots of violent behaviour and has been weapons brought to the school by the students. And also I am coloured and I have been treated differently by one of the music teachers who was being rude to me and some other students who were also coloured and I found this really hard to dead deal with. But some of the teachers are amazing Mrs glee wheae Louise and mr tozer I just have been treated differently compared to the lighter skinned kids.
The teachers are friendly here. His teacher Nic P is very supportive and responsible.
Peoplewise, the school is amazing. I met many people here but sadly i've lost contact with them. Sporting opportunities are good but i'd like to see it open up to a wider range of students, rather than the "best at everything". Downside is some of the teachers and leadership. Jacob Prisk, you walk around the school very often, but when you are doing some mahi? All talking no doing I guess. I don't think the high vis and sunglasses cut it. Many teachers cared for your learning and made it enjoyable. Some would care more than others, but thats out of our control. I do believe this school could be fair across the board with some things. During my time at the school, some girl that disliked me made up a story to get me in trouble for bullying her. I was not allowed to share my side and I was only called in to the office to get in trouble?? Facilities. The facilities are amazing. It's great for people who want to advance academically and with sports. Huge gym, field, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Great opportunities at this school and would recommend as long as you don't mind putting up with the rare bad teacher.
