We booked the Fox Glacier Nature Tour and Cliff was our guide. The walk was 5 km return, and was a little challenging at times both in our 60’s. Cliff was great, and would stop to highlight points of interest and so we could have a little rest. The views of the Glacier were spectacular and the cuppa and biscuits at the end of the track before our return walk was most welcome. We would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about glaciers and New Zealand in general, as Cliff was a fountain of knowledge.
Really nice tour. Sophie was a super knowledgeable guide and took us through some really interesting bits of the glacier. Particularly enjoyed the scrambling through the rocks, jumping across stepping stones and climbing through the forest to get back to the start! Lots of varied geological facts and birdlife on this trip. Really enjoyed, thanks guys!
Had a super experience with guide Sophie on our Franz Josef Glacier Lookout Guided Walk. A nice walk with some great views and a constant stream of interesting information about the local flora and fauna and geological phenomenons, as well as a constant flow of positive energy. With a guide you also access of-track areas off limits to the general public, where you can take in more of the nature and get close to the river in the valley. Worth every cent to get this experience rather than just hiking up to the lookout on your own.
Great tour with lots of fun information about the glacier valley geology and ecology! Our guide David was very friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend. We did the Franz Joseph 2 Hour Tour.
Our guide Cliff was amazing and took us through the bush to all of these secret viewing locations. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer any and all of our questions. Highlight for sure was the morning tea on the river bed. I am lowish mobility and was easy enough for me to get around - Cliff was very accommodating at what speed I needed to go at.
A very tough hike, almost 7 hours round trip, on a wet and treacherous day. Despite this, it was great and we were quite pleased by the experience. Our guide was very informative and social. Highly recommended
My husband and I really enjoyed this tour. It was set at a leisurely pace, we were able to access some areas that the general public are unable to and best of all, David - our guide was so very knowledgeable and interesting. Certainly the best experience we had at Franz Josef. Thank you David.
Lisa our your guide was just incredible. Today was a terribly wet day we were all soaked and dripping right through to the bare skin! It rained the entire tour and It was too cloudy to see the glacier, but Lisa made the trip just as fantastic that you didn't mind being soaking wet! She was wonderful so passionate and knowledge about the area the glacier and the plant life. She even retrieved a piece of glacier ice from the river. Well worth a trip good or bad weather don't let it put you off
