Spent $114 at this shop an what I got looked a mess,my battered mussels had shells in them,I ask for my $8.50 paua fritter to be floured then deep fried,get outer whakatane to find that it had been battered an I specifically said for it to be floured then deep fried an fir the lady to tell me the paua fritter is 98% paua is a lie as it looked an tasted more flourey then anything else,ive tasted better no word of a lie,best thing in my fish an chip pack would've had to be the chips my kina was average as not really keen on cando, raw fish was on point,the oysters were nice an fresh also,luckily I didn't buy the Aquarius watery ones....the lady needs to listen properly to the customers wants an needs...
Delicious meal from Gibbo’s! The burgers had fresh buns and the fillings were scrumptious. Burgers were presented in a cardboard box which shows Gibbo’s rate their burgers and after devouring them so do we! Donuts were sweet enough to finish off the meal. Beautiful luscious fleshy crumbed melt in your mouth fish! One of the best corn fritters I've tasted! Big fat juicy cheese burger & great chips! Definately a must visit if your in Whakatāne.Food: 5/5
Thank you Gibbos so much. Tonight our order was 3 Terakihi and chips. Batter on the fish was light almost tempura, absolutely beautifully cooked. Keep up using the new batter please.
I have had plenty of beautifully cooked fish n chips from Gibbos before. It was super busy where I was willing to wait 50mins. Just not sure why or how this happened, but 3 of our 4 fish were either over cooked or cooked from frozen. The fillets were firm like chicken, for a sec I actually thought it was. It will take me a while to come back, incase it happens again.
Absolutely disgusting! Greasy and old- fish was mushy. We were recommended this place by the locals and were severely disappointed. Overpriced garbage- plus we had to wait 30min. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Best fish n chips in the Eastern Bay of Plenty great deals for families,still the cheapest Kai up against fast foods like macas, KFC,bk. Keep it up GIBBOS well done big upsFood: 5/5
Chips were not crisp nor the fish it tasted like it was deep fried in old oil and not clean oil and if you have an allergy with latex be aware they were wearing latex gloves while preparing and cooking

Terrible rude service, especially the young guy, Tuesday night. Used to be so great, what happened??? Won't be back. Last few times has been so disappointing with both food and service. Would definitely not recommend anymore
