Amazing. 6 nights turned into 5 weeks. We just couldn't bear to leave. Staff, atmosphere, activities all second to none. The best amenities set up I've seen and the cafe lounge the cowshed is a great place to hang out, especially for the kids. Sites are spacious and well maintained. The micro climate is real. Pack for the tropics rather than West Coast weather reputation. Safety: Wander away from tents without issues. Wekas a thieves but theres a real honest vibe here amongst campers. Walkability: So much to do within walking/biking distance or 5 mins drive. Even more within a few kms and westport sights and shopping. Food & drinks: Cafe with coffee, pies and baking. Ice blocks etc and everything you need to make a pizza in the woodfire pizza oven
I'm giving 5 stars because I can't take off half a star, and giving only 4 would be unfair. Before all the plusses, one problem: not enough kitchen space. With one gas stove and not all burners work it's a bit of a problem cooking. And the kitchen itself is small, with nothing to help you organize. But... Everything else is great, from the wonderful tent sites, comfortable sitting areas, friendly staff, and all the rest.
Luvly friendly camping ground right near the River/ocean. Fabulous cafe/coffee/muffins. We really enjoyed the outdoor pizza oven. Very relaxing - we will return.
Stayed in the Riverview home for five nights with 7 others. Basic home that works well for a base to explore the coast. + Great views, private enough, spacious home. + Great to be able to take the dogs. + Native birdsong is great + Cheeky resident weka is a laugh. + Nice waterfall walk. Needs better marking from homes - Mattresses are nothing short of firm. - A light in the second shower area would be handy. - BBQ regulator sometimes leaks - please replace. - Bloody sandflies everywhere on Coast need deterring with mossie spray. Camp facilities on the whole are very good. Evident that management care about the property and the experience they are providing. + Excellent plantings + Massive camping area! + New showers look great + Pizza oven is a great social drawcard. Outdoor adult games on offer would be good. + Good beach for scavenging. - Coffee could improve Note: Not sure the sea is swimmable by campground as mentioned, especially not by children. However the river offers some nice swim holes life jackets if going out further than about 5 metres as drops away quickly. Overall many thanks, loved the stay and recommend.
Favourite camping ground. Has amazing facilities, including new toilet/shower block. Also now has new laundry area. Great coffee and cakes.
2x hot tubs only and both booked out. Nice alternative feel to the facilities but couches etc all looking very dirty and possibly a little too laid back. Not sure why it's ranked so highly as expensive to stay the night in our Motorhome and also $90 for a hot tub seemed a bit much too $$$$$ for 2hrs!?! I'd be cooked. If rather 45min for $45....... The cafe and reception only has someone between 9am-11am so noone around to ask about things.
Stayed only 2 nights . Could have easily stayed 2 weeks. One of the best camping grounds I have ever stayed. Thanks for having us. Kay Horne and Renus Spaan
Thank you Gentle Annie. Our 4th visit in the last 12 months. Such a beautiful relaxing place. Staff are amazing especially Sharon and Hanz. Everything so clean and tidy. We dont know how lucky we are to be in this amazing place.
I camped so can't rate the rooms but this is an awesome place to escape to. Bathrooms were clean and they have construction under way for more. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be back!Service: 5/5
What a fantastic place this is. Wonderful staff and sublime food. Watch the drive in but definitely worth the effort
