I've been Open Water Swimming for over a decade now and tried numerous local venues. Quay Swim is by far the best! The lake is one of the cleanest I've swum in, the facilities are quite simply amazing and the staff are super friendly, helpful and fun. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to dip your toes in for the first time or a seasoned pro wanting to churn out multiple laps of the 1k loop, I can honestly not think of a better place to go.
Fantastic place, gorgeous lake, clean water, superbly managed by life guards & company. Safest open water training place. As a wheelchair user they work really hard to enable me to access the water-not possible for everyone but they are fantastic people. Can be very busy but if I can't park they've always helped make it possible. Happy to help anyone who feels nervous about open swimming to try it!
Fantastic facility for open water swimming. Four loops ranging from 150m to 1,000m in lovely, clean water. The team have invested a lot in the facilities so there's plenty of parking, toilets, changing areas and spaces to sit and enjoy the view. There's also a really friendly atmosphere offering a warm welcome whether you're a regular open water swimmer or a complete newbie. Definitely worth signing up for a green band if you're going to come reasonably regularly.
Love this place. They have a wonderfully helpful and friendly team. Always on hand to give advice and guidance. They have the setup right and have tea, coffee and snacks etc. to buy at a cheap price. They have changing rooms and porta loos onsite as well as plenty of parking. It's never too long before someone is leaving so you can get parked when busy. Lifeguards are all around the lake making you feel totally safe. No matter what level you are at swimming, they have set up the buoys in small to large distances. This enables people to swim the 150m, 250m, 500m or 1k route. They even conduct a night swim and provide swimming throughout the winter months. What more do you need.
Great place to swim- Booking made online - cash payment at reception heard that this should change soon to payment online as well Everyone was really friendly,so many people enjoying their afternoon swim. Loved the changing room with individual cubicles complete with stylish mirror. Tea and coffee with honesty box plus a pizza van arrived just as we were leaving. Super organisation just wish it was my local lake.
I have been to Quay Swim now several times and love the whole vibe. The staff are super friendly, the flapjacks are yummy, the wildlife is abundant and the water helps lift your nature spirit within I am definitely going to invest in a wetsuit for winter as the benefits of cold water therapy are so good for our mental health. I'm now a regular swimmer here, great atmosphere. Very friendly and well organised. There are plenty of lifeguards on land and in canoes so it feels very safe. The water is very clean and as it is pretty shallow it warms up quickly in the sun.
Quay Swim Open Water Swimming in Mytchett is an exceptional place. I urge anyone who wishes to swim and hasn't before to take the plunge here. The team are amazing, friendly and super helpful, the lifeguards are a plenty in the lake ready to help and reassure you if you need. It is not stuffy or pretentious, for serious swimmers or for those wishing a leisurely loop, it is for everyone. Every time I swim here , I am more and more addicted to this place and to Open Water Swimming.it is easy to book, easy to park and is hassle free making the chill out experience even better. Thank you Quay Swim for making this so enjoyable, safe and for making me feel a part of your swimmming community
1st time trying open lake swimming and what a beautiful morning. Place is well laid out and spacious. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Most encouraging to my wife who has a disability. Different length swims depending on ability. Booking is essential though as start times are staggered. Tea and coffee provided by honesty box. Changing rooms and hire shop on site. It was good to see so many people either laughing or smiling. Would i go again. Yes, of course. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
Parking can be limited when it is very busy. Nice to have a fire available to warm up and socialise post swim but it always seems to be very smoky. Maybe source some better seasoned fuel?
