The reserve is no longer allowed to be used for freedom campers, which has made them all park on the beachfront and has created massive potholes for beach-goers. The women’s bathroom has a broken lock on one of the doors and they are not maintained at all. The bins need to be emptied more frequently.
Really great spot to park up for the night. Lovely beach. Road noise is a obvious given as your parking on the road but hay hoo it's free and really beautiful. Alot of the spots along this coast are limited so it was lucky for us to find this spot.
Mr Adam Crabb who freedom camped in a tent in a non freedom camping area then complained on here... Good on security for pulling you up. There are rules for a reason. Abide by them! Fully self contained vehicles only and on the beach side of the road. Not on the grass on the toilet side.
I didn't go freedom camping but I did walk in the beach, it used to be beautiful here but freedom campers litter a lot so most of my walk consists of picking up other peoples rubbish, last week I picked up a tangled line with sharp hooks, i would not recommend taking your children here.
Traffic noise, obnoxious camping behaviour but good place to go at the beginning of your trip as people are getting rid of. Stuff on their way back. Lovely beach.
