Dedicated to the design and manufacture of furniture from recycled timbers & steel with a focus on simplicity, natural beauty and traditional technique.

Story

Fox & Table was created in 1990 by my desire to make objects of simple form and function with natures gift of good wood with little embellishment.

I campaigned with lots of friends in the late 80's & early 90's, while still being a chemical engineer at the Dairy Board, to stop the global destruction of rainforests and for Wgtn locals to become aware of alternative sources of fine timber.Through my close friendship with Steve Hanify(RIP)- Wgtn Chair Co, Tonks Av, I became obsessed with the recovery and use of timber from buildings being modified or demolished in Wellington. Paying respect to these majestic buildings, their designers, their makers,their previous occupants and their long serving presence gave us all another special dimension for enjoyment of the new object d'art and it's function. Over the years I developed a fascination and again a respect, for the traditional methods and techniques of wood working folk of centuries before.

My mission really is to use materials that deserve a second or third life and that save unnecessary forest destruction and to re-present that timber in custom made and spec items that deliver to the client 'as much wood for your money'. Everything I make has a lifetime guarantee ! Btw that's my lifetime...

Around the table is a damn good place for a good look at one another and a wholesome catch-up, so long as the digital stuff is left on the couch.
