We had an awesome stay at Fox Glacier Lodge. The location is awesome, and I love the rustic vibe of our cabin. The most amazing was when the owner took us on an evening glowworm walk in the forest nearby. We saw hundreds of them! Such a great place.
Stayed in our caravan on one of their sites - price reduced because we are a member of NZMCA $32pn. Pretty disappointed by the condition of the showers and toilets. Shabby with green mould in the corners, paint peeling and shower lining in bad state.A good clean required all over premises. Staff helpful tho and polite.
Unfortunately I can’t leave a great review for this site. The place is not well maintained. We stayed in a campervan site, powered. This is fine with power and water provided. However the facilities were atrocious. There was black mould on the roof in the kitchen and common area, as well as on all the shower and toilet roofs. The showers look liked they had not been cleaned in forever. Alike the previous review, we had a cleaner drop toilet from one of the off grid campsites through DOC that was nicer than this. Many of the replies to the comments were it’s because it is a damp area, yes it is, but there are many things you can do to prevent this from happening. I should have looked at the bad reviews before booking, it was just one of the cheaper options in the area. The site could definitely do with some money spend to up their facilities to make it more comfortable and clean for guests.
Review for Fox Glacier LodgennWe had some unexpected car troubles during our trip, but Vicky, Stacey, and James were there for us from start to finish. They were incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming — truly going above and beyond to make sure we were okay.nnOn top of that, the rooms are absolutely beautiful: super clean, cozy, and well-equipped. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay during a stressful time.nnIf you’re passing through Fox Glacier, don’t miss this place — stop here and enjoy an amazing stay with breathtaking views and the warmest hospitality you’ll find.nnThank you again for everything!
Booked two months ago for a holiday just before Easter next year. Specifically booked early so that we could ensure we got something within our budget and could therefore confidentially arrange international flights for a once in a lifetime trip to NZ even if it's on a tight budget.nInstead today we've received an 'apology' email saying that due to overlooking, they're unable to honour our condoned reservation - instead offering us alternative accommodation that is double the original budget we had booked with them. Leaves me thinking that as accommodation stayed to book out and prices pushed up, they decided to proceed with another customer who would pay more for the same booking than honour existing bookings. Either that or they have serious issues managing their bookings to only be able to tell 2 months later that they are overbooked. The gall of the to them have our booking canceled through Expedia 'at our request'.nWhatever it is, it leaves us currently without accommodation in our budget and a sour taste in our mouths at what feels like unscrupulous booking practices.
