A once in a lifetime experience. We got lucky with a break in the weather for our tour this morning and I'm so happy that we did. The staff were brilliant and made sure we were safe at all times but went out of their way to show us all the cool features of the glacier. Highly recommended doing this tour.
The Heli-Hike was by far the best things we’ve done in New Zealand! You’ll start by being checked in and then your group will be given a safety briefing and fitted out with your equipment before being transferred a short drive to the helicopter. That’s when the fun starts and you take a short but amazing flight to the Glacier. All the staff we encountered Jenna, Cam, Stretch, Moss were great at their job and it was clear they love it! Moss, our guide was hilarious and made the experience even better! The walk on the glacier was mind blowing, better than expected and worth every cent, we’d 100% do this experience again!! Do this, don’t second guess it!
The tour are highly dependent on weather, cloud & mist at the mountains. Initinally we booked on Saturday and then due to thick cloud our session got rescheduled. We went for the 930am session. Started of with detailed safely briefings. Jacket, boots, backpack are all provided. We are then transported to a nearby helipad. We hiked for almost 4hrs and have some great chances to visit different kind of glacier formation & even entered the crevasse. Highly recommended for a once a lifetime tour
Wow Very fun experience! The hike itself was so good that makes the helicopter ride seems a little bit plain! Well, just saying how amazing it is! Our guide Ryan and Flavia please forgive me if I spell it wrong are very professional and passionate about what they do! Will recommend to our friends for sure!
We had a fantastic day heli hike on Fox glacier with our guide Flo! The service is great because the our reservation for a cloudy day could be changed to a day of full . I recommend to do the walk and not just the heli and touch down for a photo. I never was in a helicopter before and it was a sensation, but I like the walk even more. You get the equipment to walk on the ice and many opportunities for great shoots. The most special moment was a kind of an ice cave we could ascend with a rope. Highly recommended expensive but worth the money
I can confidently say that this was the best experience I had during my entire New Zealand adventure. From start to finish, I was captivated by every aspect of this incredible journey. The briefing before the hike was informative and helpful, setting the stage for an unforgettable day. The safety instructors were not only knowledgeable but also made the experience enjoyable with their fun and engaging approach. The guides were the true stars of the show - they were not only fun and entertaining, but also highly professional. Their enthusiasm was infectious as they went above and beyond to ensure we saw every breathtaking sight, including a remarkable glacial cave-like structure. What truly impressed me was their flexibility with time. They didn't limit us to a fixed hike duration; instead, they extended it by an entire hour to ensure we didn't miss a single thing. While the price may be on the higher side, I can assure you it's worth every penny. If you're in New Zealand, this is an absolute must-do experience that will leave you with lifelong memories!
Went on the Heli Hike and what an experience! Our guide Fiona was amazing, and the scenery was awesome. While the weather wasn’t great we spent a good 3 hours on the ice and saw several wonderful caves, including the Rachel Cave named after my nine years old after being the first visitor to have gone into the newly discovered cave : The hike went included some steep accents and descents and does require a good level of fitness.
Completed the Flying Fox Activity. Such an amazing experience. The experience was very well streamlined, got everything organised fast and clearly briefed us all. The team were all so friendly, funny and informative Sky, Stretch & Sherpa. The amount of time on the glacier was so good and not rushed at all, spent 3+ hours up there with a quick 5-10min heli flight both ways. Such amazing views and a hands down MUST DO!! Experience for all travellers and local Kiwis. Downside is the price but a once in a lifetime, especially how fast the glacier is moving over time. Wish the heli flight took us up over the glacier or a bit more of a birds eye view, surely a extra 5min loop couldn't add too much to the cost.
It was one of the best experience ever. Our guide, Flah, was very professional and patient. She guided and assisted my mom when needed and made her feel very safe while on the ice. She did not lose her patience not even once, still a smile on her face. Flah also show us around the glacier while explaining how it was formed. Not only that, she took tonnes of pictures for everyone in the group and her pictures were 100%. Definitely 10 stars experience.
What an amazing experience and the fox team were absolutely brilliant [Shout out to Fiona and Moss - our guides on the day]. The helicopter ride up was smooth and when we had some weather that delayed our return - Fiona took us all for a walk and then carved out a route through a crevasse - which was a mind blowing experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
