Only fresh oysters and coffee/tea served between 10-11am. We thus simply ordered the half-shell Bluff oysters to try as we arrived at 10am exactly, ordering with coffee along. The staff was very friendly and helpful in addressing our queries in wanting to know more about the oyster harvesting. Of the 6 fresh bluff oysters, I felt one of it does not seem to be fresh as it tasted very different. Not sure if they are all indeed straight from the catch. It would have been better if the shop can provide more slices of lemon than just one small piece for every half dozen.
Fresh oysters in the half shell or in a tub depending on what you’re after. They are definitely more of the ocean salty style oyster, big juicy and fat with a clean ocean saltiness.nAlso got Fish Greenbone and chips. Both cooked well, crispy batter. A tad on the greasy side but super fresh.
We loved this place so much that we came three times in one dayThe blue cod bites and chips are delicious, but we noticed that the amount of salt can be a bit inconsistent. It would be great if the shop could provide a bottle of salt so customers can season to their liking. Also bring your own wet tissues/cutlery!nnThe oysters are incredibly fresh and taste amazing! Just a heads up: it’s best to come early or call ahead to reserve, as the oysters can sell out quickly. We managed to get the last box of AA grade, and the pieces were so big that they didn’t even fit in the shells
I’m not a big fan of oysters. But my friends say they are super fresh and flavorful, plus I don’t know where else you can get wild oysters nowadays in the world. They liked these oysters so much that they packed another two dozens.
Prices have gone up slightly from previous years, but thus seems to be the trend across New Zealand and the world at the moment. The staff was so kind and helpful and friendly!! Ready for takeaway in just 10 minutes. The blue cod was the best I've had in New Zealand so far, soft and delicious flavor!! Oysters were also unique and novelty, although I personally didn't love their different flavor. Would highly recommend a visit!
