Mike & Pam were super friendly & obliging. We chose a room with shared facilities which was great value for our two single nights either end of our ferry to & from Stewart Island.nGreat conti brekky and they're very aware of, and cater for, celiac & gluten free diets.nThanks guys

Staying at the Foveaux Hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. The historic charm of the 1937 art-deco building is beautifully preserved, with elegant touches and vintage character throughout. The rooms were spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful amenities like electric blankets, modern heaters, and cozy bedding that made for a perfect night’s sleep. The shared lounge felt like a home away from home, offering a warm, inviting space to relax with a book or chat with fellow travelers. Breakfast each morning was simple yet satisfying, with fresh fruit, cereal, toast, and excellent coffee to start the day right.nnWhat truly sets this place apart, though, are the hosts, Pam and Mike. Their hospitality was second to none—they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely eager to make every guest feel special. From helpful travel tips to sharing stories over a drink in the bar, their kindness left a lasting impression. The location is also unbeatable, just minutes from the ferry terminal to Stewart Island and surrounded by the charm of Bluff. Foveaux Hotel is not just a place to stay—it’s an experience in itself. I couldn’t recommend it more highly and will absolutely return on my next trip to the area.

This place has heart and soul. Feels like staying in a much loved great aunt’s old house. Strong 30’s vibe with modern comfort. Generous heating, electric blankets, hot water, cosy lounge. No dinner in off season but excellent fish and chips next door to eat in dining room. Thanks to Pam and Mike - kind hosts.

Wonderful and charming place to stay. Hosts Mike and Pam were just awesome, I will come back again if I find my way back to this l corner of the globe.

We visited Bluff for the Shark cage diving experience and had a wonderful stay at this charming and well located hotel! It has a very homey atmosphere, making it feel warm and inviting. Hosts Mike and Pam are absolutely lovely—welcoming, attentive, and always ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy and personal touch!
