Stumbled across this little cafe while out geocaching and thought it would be the perfect place to stop for some refreshments and it certainly was. What a little diamond, staff are so so friendly, take the time to engage with you like your old friends over for a visit. The food was delicious. As a vegan I don't often find something I can eat and when I do the flavour just isn't always there. Not true for here though, the samosa I had was bursting with flavour from the very first bite. I really can't rate it enough. The cafe is also very clean and as a wonderful atmosphere, highly recommend.
Took my classic car for a run with a mate up to Fossil Point Cafe. Highly recommend the Seafood Chowder. Best there is. Went up with the Austin Healey Club a couple of weeks later when our trip to Arthur's Pass got cancelled owing to road closure. Kim and Kerry hosted 16 of us at short notice and provided stellar service and great lunch.
Great place for a group to dine. We went with a car club and around 30 people. Great food and very helpful staff. Thanks for looking after us.
Great food and coffee. Great log fire. Good stop on way to Chch.Food: 5/5
Amazing homemade food. Warm welcoming owners. Well worth travelling out to Greta Valley to visit this gem. And unique pottery and paintings available Vegetarian options: Well catered for Parking: Plenty of parking out front Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp from the car park Dietary restrictions: Well catered for
A lovely leisurely lunch half an hour about north of Amberley - SH1 Picton to Christchurch. Dietary restrictions: Was Gluten Free.
Wonderful Cafe with great decor. The food and tea was very good but the highlight for us was the history of the Cafe and how it was transformed from an ugly building into a stylish Cafe and gallery. You have to read the book they have about their transition. The artist/owner Kim Henderson has work displayed and a very interesting book of her life and art, the stories are told with fantastic drawings and lots of humor. Kim and staff are very friendly and fun to be around. A must see if passing the area. 1
Took family for lunch , ordered catch of the day .. this was like fish at cheap takeaway, but for 27 dollars each we were expecting fresh fish from the sea not full of fat and all processed, chips cold and tasted of old oil , salad looked old. Complained to owner who was defensive , no refund offered so left , won't go back . Had a lovely meal at the pub behind.... save yourself $$$ and go there from the get go!!
After our first visit a year ago and three subsequent visits travelling north, every aspect of Fossil Point warrants a compliment. The staff are super friendly, the premises spotless, and the pies, pizza and ice creams the best in north Canterbury.
I reckon they have the best pies ever! Great service, views, atmosphere and staff. Make sure you stop here, you won't be disappointed. Parking: Plenty of parking
