Lunch at Formosa was a winner. The space is way bigger than it looks from the street, with a cool, open vibe and quirky little menu blurbs that make choosing fun.nnWe smashed through pan-fried pork dumplings delicious, stir-fried basil chicken very delicious, and deep-fried prawn spring rolls next level delicious - like prawn toast but better. The Cari Cari corn puffs were interesting - sweet, salty, and crispy, not what I was expecting but ok.nnService was lightning-fast and genuinely friendly. The wine list is pretty simple, but the overall drinks lineup more than makes up for it with great mocktails and solid beer options.nnA touch noisy out the back, but nothing that kills the vibe - and there’s a private dining space that looks perfect for a group. Definitely heading back to work my way through more of the menu.
Everything was absolutely delicious. The portions were quite generous. I'm really satisfied with everything I ordered. Would definitely come back.
Boy this was a big surprise food here was next level beats any little pink food i ever tasted this restaurant has given me a reason to come to ashburton again .here you get ull get Taiwanese food from beautifull Country Taiwan. Cheers
Wonderful restaurant with a variety of different Asian styles. Delicious food although not spicy at all despite having ‘spicy’ in the name of the dish, however I understand they must cater to a western audience. I loved it nonetheless. The desserts are next level, most likely top 5 in New Zealand easily. Service was exceptional, prices are fair. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Lots of options that can be made vegan! The steamed dumplings were delicious! The decor is nice and service was prompt and nice. The tofu was quite rubbery and over-fried. I had to use a steak knife to cut the tofu and as I cut it oil oozed out. Maybe in smaller chunks the tofu would be easier to eat. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend any dishes with that kind of tofu if its cooked that way. The sweet and sour tofu was too sweet.
