This is the ultimate kiwi adventure, Transfer to and from the starting point plus your food breaks are all included in this well organized tour. I rate our Guide Ray, 10 out 10 for his local knowledge, enthusiasm and his humor. People of all ages can enjoy the Rail Trail and learn the history of the railway construction and the local farming community..
Absolutely a must do, the guides, the knowledge, the historic district, stories of coal mining, tunnel building, timber and farming. The river and railway bring the history alive. A huge thank you to Tina, Kahil, Oce, Krystle, Ross and the team who made our day so memorable..
Very well run and organised without losing the friendly and personal approach. We had a wonderful day which exceeded our expectations. Can't say enough about the knowledgeable staff Tina and Oriwia were great. Tasty morning and afternoon tea and a filling lunch were provided as part of the package. Suitable for young and old and everyone in between. We did the rail cart ride to Whangamomona, stayed overnight and had the Hotel's dinner, bed and breakfast package, then returned to Taumarunui on the shuttle bus. We considered it all very good value for our money.
The amazing array of tour options means you have so many opportunities to seek some unique Kiwi travel experiences from their base in Taumaranui. Based around the Whanganui River and Forgotten World Highway it is very special to see first hand the amazing scenery and learn about the history of this area. The team, led by Kara are super efficient and friendly. Definitely add one of the Forgotten World Adventures to your list We just completed the new Rhine of the Pacific Tour. This exclusive tour, with some added luxuries, shows you along the navigable length of the awa from Whanganui to Taumaranui, following the original colonial highway of the early 1900s. A very special experience.
A really great day out, fantastic scenery, the history was just amazing.......not to mention Lincolns recall of everything. Lincoln, Jo, Oce and Dale were awesome. FWA has a great team of people, everyone was so nice. We would throroughly recommend booking a trip with FWA, really unique......thank you so much!!Visited onWeekend
The tour is overprised. Bad communication. You should talk to people about what happening in case of delay but not be silent. Food could be better as well, lunch is bread and ham. In general, I expected something WOW but got something average.
I did the Takitimu 10 railcart trip and totally loved it. I was on my own so had the choice of riding with a member of staff so I could photograph to my hearts content. So many tunnels and bridges. Morning tea and lunch provided. Staff so friendly and helpful. The history of the small settlements we passed through was fascinating. Saw cattle, sheep, horses, alpaca, pheasant, quail and ducks. Would totally recommend.
We had a marvellous time on the wee golf carts, the food was plentiful and the history engaging. Staff were more than helpful and the cool of the tunnels was perfect on a very hot day. Ka rawe!Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 min

We did the 20 Tunnel experience to Whangamomona. Great day and our second time with Forgotten World Adventures. So much history learnt. Many thanks to Lincoln, Yorleen, Tomo and Chrissie for making the day so special and what a way to spend my birthday. Delicious morning and afternoon teas and yummy lunch. Our first trip with Forgotten World Adventures was the 10 Tunnel/Jet Boat Experience. Highly recommend both these trips.
