To promote and encourage the sport of fly fishing in New Zealand and secondly to educate New Zealanders about techniques and benefits of this sport.
The Fly Fishing Educational Trust (Fly Curious NZ) has been set up to promote and teach the techniques and benefits of the sport of Fly Fishing. This community page is available for its members to post and share their pictures and experiences of their journey into the world of fly fishing. The members are expected to be constructive and supportive of all contributions. It is important that we are able to introduce fly fishing to youngsters and newcomers in a positive light. Fly Curious intends to travel the country and attend "fish out" events at the stocked ponds in each region providing a first experience with fly fishing equipment. The hope is that these occasions also provide a first catch for the children on a fly fishing rod. Also nationwide school visits will be undertaken to bring the fascinating world of fly fishing to the classrooms of 8 to 12 year olds. We will have displays and fun casting games and instruction at major outdoor shows such as Boat shows and Field days style events.
