If you take the ferry to Stewart Island and want to park your rental car, highly recommended to park inside Ferry Terminal Parkjng. Although its daily charge is NZD25, but it is fenced off parking area and closed after 17:30. It is very safe for your rental car if you leaves large luggage inside the car overnight. Take 09:45 ferry to Stewart Island and return next day 08:00 ferry, 1 day parking pass is more secure and safe your car. Only recommend nearby Wilson parking in open space which is low cost as NZD8.5 for day return trip
Left our rental motorhome in the secure Ferry Terminal Parking overnight Sat / Sun no problems at all.n$25 for one night - the automatic machines and barriers aren’t working so you pay in the Ferry Terminal building and get a red ticket to display on your dashboard.
Day trip to Stewart islandn$85 per person one way $170 both
First get ticket at ferry station, then put on your dashboard.nAnother public parking is available across from and closer to the station.nFree street parking is close by.
