I have had many good experiences with this ferry, but today was horrible. We had originally scheduled to get on from Hobsonville to Auckland at 3:15. We got there there was no boat, we checked websites and the board at the dock. Both of these things had different timings, 30 minutes apart at most. We had to wait 2 more hours for the next ferry. 5:45 ish We arrived in the city without problems but with a family of 7 5 kids. We checked the times with some of the crew and other workers. We got told ‘ The ferry will be there and if not we will pay for your travel home. ‘ It wasn’t those exact words but we were told we would get home. We went out for dinner then did some exploring and ice cream for the kids. We headed to our dock early to get the kids the seats they wanted. We got to the gate to find it was canceled. 8:55 with no way home at 5 sleepy kids on our case. We confronted the staff and we finally got home by Uber at 9:30. The Ubers were paid for us as well as around 12 other people. The excuse we got was; The ferry broke down. I’m expecting a few other reports about this, just do better next time-
Some interesting and fascinating history here, all the way down the pier.nnWhen I got there around midday the ferry was not running. Apparently it only runs early morning and late evening for transfers to the city. Unfortunately the timetable was not displayed alongside the pier.
Convenient and mostly covered when there is rain. A little confusing which ferry to get back to downtown.
