Pizza here is really awesome! Big portion and serving just nice for 2. All ingredients are fresh and juicy! Really love the thin crust there. Tip: Order early, as early as when the stall is open, do make a call to order your pizzas because the waiting time can be quite long. It is also just 5mins away from the Hokitika beach and it's all the right time to catch the beautiful sunset while waiting the pizzas to be ready. Highly recommended!
Pretty solid pizza. The large four cheese pizza was really good though it had pesto which I personally found odd but it was tasty nonetheless. The garlic bread was super good, very soft and full of flavour. Service was excellent and the pie was ready in about 15 minutes. They have super comfy couches you can wait on as well which was a great plus
Excellent first experience We visited Fat Pipi pizza for dinner on a weekend in late October. We had a vegetarian pizza and a vegetarian soup. Both dishes were nice and the service was prompt and courteous. We were served by Nanditha. We will be happy to dine here again and also happy to recommend this place to anyone.
Decent pizza, apparently very well known especially for their whitebait and marina. Hence we waited till they opened, order the iconic ones and went onto our next pit stop of the roadie so unfortunately didn’t get to eat it fresh. Despite this, still easily heated up and tasty. Bit bland for the typical meat lovers or pepperoni pizza I go for but definitely unique in the toppings. Don’t think you’ll be able to find pizza toppings like this anywhere else so for originality it’s a five star. Taste wise bland like I’ve already described, it’s ok, I’m not wowed and the cost is up there in the thirties. A solid pizza but would I get this again? Defs not unless we go on another South Island trip and stop by for a well known/novelty item. Nice to try but really just paying for the experience of trying unique toppings. Chowder was also ok, though I’ve found on this trip that fish and chip shops do a decent chowder, and for less. TLDR; decent pizzas, well made, bit bland and cost ratio not quite worth but nice if you wanna try a unique pizza. We shared two medium pizzas between four people 3 adults one child
That was a HUGE pizza. Very, very filling, the pair of us could only eat half of it. And super tasty, with plenty of toppings. The garlic bread side was just how we like it, soft, dripping with butter. Yum. 12 out of 10.Food: 5/5
We ordered takeaway pizzas here, but on picking them up and seeing the venue I wish we'd dined in. Fat Pipi have actually invested in their decor to create a nice space, whereas many other food venues in Hokitika and Greymouth seem to go for the cheap canteen look. The lady we spoke to was very helpful, particularly when my wife asked for a gluten free pizza. We were then asked specifically if my wife was coeliac and the lady confirmed back to us "one coeliac gluten free pizza" and reconfirmed it on pick up. The food was ready in 25 minutes exactly as promised, and it was delicious. We had a T-Rex pizza and a salmon pizza and I'd recommend both, particularly the thin and crispy base. My wife also enjoyed the gluten free base. Couple of things to note - the gluten free pizza at $30 is one size only. It's the same size as a medium regular pizza at $25. Their large regular pizza is $30. The garlic bread is small, as stated on the menu, with four slices. Dietary restrictions: The lady we spoke to was very helpful, particularly when my wife asked for a gluten free pizza. We were then asked specifically if my wife was coeliac and the lady confirmed back to us "one coeliac gluten free pizza" and reconfirmed it on pick up. Gluten free pizza is one size only, medium, and priced the same size as the regular large pizza.
Overpriced and overrated. The penne pasta was alright but the pizza....not so much. Had a lengthy wait for our food. Service was alright.
We ordered the seafood chowder and Whitebait pizza for 2 to share. The pizza was interesting, and the lemon added a good tangy touch to the flavour. They had sofa seats which was nice and it is very big group friendly.
Had the whitebait pizza which was really delicious. The seafood chowder tasted better with a bit more salt but had lots of seafood which was fantastic.
The pizzas were amazing - I had the margherita and thought it tasted so good. If you are dining in the views out the back of the shop are lovely and the decorations make a really nice environment. Having the beach on your doorstep is also a big plus.
