We had the most amazing first experience I ordered a cake for my my mother's 80 birthday. The staff were outstanding and helpful. Right down to helping pack it safely for transport to Mount Maunganui. Everyone was impressed with the special personal touches reflecting my mother's personality. Above and beyond expectations. The finest compliment any Baker can ask for. Everyone going for seconds until not a crumb was left. My apologies to staff and management. I was about to send a post last week and was interrupted in the process and posted 2 stars A reflection on my own technology fail. Definitely not a reflection of the staff and quality of food served at the Fat Kiwi Otorohanga.
Firstly, go in open minded, despite the fact that you probably have already started to read the reviews. I bought the b&b waffles and the presentation was . Very sweet with fresh tasting cream. The meal was worth the price I paid. Bananas and bacon were on!
Staff were super kind and friendly. Cafe clean and tidy. The food was delicious. We ordered the BB Waffles, BFK Big Breaky, chips and buttermilk chicken - yum.

Impromptu stop as the other cafes were closed on Good Friday. We totally enjoyed our food! Everything was very delicious. The energy ball was so packed with good stuff and it was very tasty! Also try the No Ugly Skin drinks!!

Cool cafe. Brought a takeaway frozen meal mac and cheese got 4 big portions from it was the best mac and cheese we have ever had. Would love to be able to buy online and have couriered out if ever a possibility. Wish I had brought them all to try. Restaurant quality
Really lovely burgers, genuinely the nicest bun I've ever had on a burger and it made a world of difference. Had a small mix-up with a side we ordered received the wrong thing but it was solved so quickly and efficiently by the really good staff that it didn't matter. Definitely recommend, especially if you're hungry passing through! Space is nice and open as well.
The food delicious and fast and the service was excellent when we stopped here on our way back to Auckland. Shortly after leaving here we got a flat tyre and found ourselves back at the Fat Kiwi trying to arrange a tow truck. The staff were exceptionally helpful and kind, provided free snacks for the children and even offered us a ride if we needed one. Will definitely come here again - thank you!
Lovely quick service, vibes and staff. Food was delicious and hot. Clean and heaps of high chairs so baby didn't have to miss out on one. Well stocked with a variety of options aswell. Will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu.Food: 5/5
