First time to fat Eddie's and it was a very pleasant experience, we found that the food for the price was very good with an excellent atmosphere ! The place was very well presented with amazing decor and a live singer that was a very nice experience as was unexpected, so over all I would highly recommend this fabulous restaurant in the ever expanding Christchurch
Sunday for a Commitments and Blues Brothers cover band gig who were great. Sales on the door but booked out tickets online from the fat eddies Facebook page. Great staff serving a good range of beers, wines and cocktails. Such a nice, well set our bar. Bar food going out smelt and looked delicious.
Great vibe for a bar/club, but the stuff really isn’t up to what their are charging for.
I would give you a 5..... but i went to karoke and they called out my name and gave me approximetally a minute to get to the stage... by the time i was at the stage they had moved on to the next human i suggest you work on this! I never really sing and i was ready were you??? Ovesly not
Would give a lesser review if possible queued 45+ mins and was rejected because my partner did not have a COLLARED SHIRT yet girls can get in with sneakers instead of heels???? Thought we were in 2022 - it goes both ways. Ridiculous!!! Fair?!!?! I think not How are we going to enforce a dress code on men but excuse women? From a woman, ridiculous!
Weird dress code randomly enforced. In summer you can enter with shorts at 5:50pm but after six it’s no shorts for men, but half the people inside have shorts on. No restrictions on women though. Bathroom covered in urine & limited drink selection with some cocktails “unavailable”. Seemed run down, and a weird vibe trying to be classier than it is to justify high prices maybe?
As a part of my Sperm Donation World tour of New Zealand I visited Christchurch and walked into a vibrant bar playing great tunes.
I was very excited to head to Fat Eddie’s this afternoon. I have heard excellent things about the venue and staff, so I was very hopeful of having a great evening. My friend group and I arrived at 4pm- first destination of the evening. I went to order a cocktail and the young woman at the bar said, very patronising “darling, you’re not having anything with alcohol”. First of all, if you’d like to refuse serving a customer- be nice about it and we might stay. It was pretty funny as we had arrived there as our first destination- sober. If you’d like to lose business, refuse service at 4pm on NYE. Wouldn’t have written this if I didn’t feel strongly about this or the fact that this women should lose her job because she’s a buzz killer. Anyway. 0/10.
Came on Friday 28th October, and truly enjoyed the bartender serving me, so much so I only ordered from her! No costume on Halloween weekend, she served me some delicious trick or treat shots throughout the night, was accommodating and amazing, I feel she deserves some recognition!
Came here for dinner 3 adults and a kid 5:30pm on a Friday 3 weeks before Xmas, lots of Xmas groups there. Was super busy. Music was a bit too loud for dining, considering nobody was dancing, and it was early. Only had a two-piece, but felt they were trying to be a big band. Working to their strengths to create a nicer, toned down performance that enhances dining and socialising leading into the night instead of aggressively coercing you to feel like you wanna get on it might’ve been a bit nicer for that time of day. It’s essentially background noise, as it should be, considering the amount of large social groups especially, and the diners. Everyone was practically screaming at each other, making the hum of voice compete with the music, it’s awful really. Sure it sets tone and atmosphere but it’s extremely overstimulating. It’s fine after 9 or so when people aren’t sitting to dine and everyone’s out “for the night”, but before that I’d say this place doesn’t hit the right spot for most people and circumstances. Then again in saying that, I’ve seen a few really decent bands here, but in general, even late in the night, I really don’t enjoy this place at all. It feels stressed. Hectic. The staff seem stressed. The flow of the place is a total shamble. The security process has always been a little too tight whenever I’ve come, it reflects the very nice décor and the expensive looking chattels, and sometimes the performers, but it definitely doesn’t reflect the patrons or the vibes or the behaviour and attitudes it seems to have - it’s basically just a dirty nightclub with live music from an older era - so there’s this weird sort of dissonance, like, it wants to be VIP with status, but instead it’s crude and a bit pretentious. But I also hate town these days so what do I know. Seems like there’s no really good bars anywhere. Gone are the days of a decent nightlife here.
