Far North museum was awesome! Excellent exhibits and presentation. Please visit this gem!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
The Far North Museum is actually part of the Te Ahu Community Cultural Center, that also houses the library, social services, meeting rooms, and other resources. The building, opened in 2012, is beautiful and worth visiting for its own sake if you are nearby. Agree with other reviewers: the museum is well designed, with informative/interesting displays and exhibits. It bypasses some of the Maori-Pakeha European disputes and problems, which can be explored more at the Waitangi Treaty Center in Paihia. The Te Ahu staff were welcoming and very informative. Museum admission is by donation. For hours, see Te Ahu on Google Maps.
IT'S closed on the weekends but don't worry..there is a nice public market with heaps of parkng..and lovely helpful isite people to help you plan your trip..the building is amazing..please give someone a job and open on Saturday and Sunday
Small but very interesting museum held by enthusiasts persons. Well thought museography. Well exposed objects and with good informations. A must-see in Kaitaia.
