Fantastic, delicious pies and probably the best coffee I’ve had in the South Island.nSalmon pie was my favourite.nService was quick and very friendly.nPlenty of tables indoors and outdoors. Was lucky to have very good weather when I was there and had a wonderful mid drive break eating their lovely pies outdoors.
Came here upon the recommendation of a friend and I’m so glad we did. We arrived around 1ish and there was virtually no line. Service was quick and still an array of pies available. Based on other people’s reviews we decided to try their famous pies - the pork belly and apple as well as the salmon and bacon pie. Both were delicious but super rich! Exquisite, flaky pastry that’s not too buttery. Both pies have loads of filling inside - huge chunks of pork belly and salmon which were so good! The apple in the pork belly was also plentiful and quite sweet, offset the pork quite well. The apple is around the edges and honestly some of the bites that were just apple and pastry could have been the most delicious apple pie. Glad we tried these two pies, would recommend but probably wouldn’t get again as so rich! My MIL got the mince pie and she said it was a bit disappointing - very meaty but minimal flavour and lacking sauce / gravy. She didn’t finish it and I tried it the next day cold and would agree it was a bit lacklustre
Very famous shop, everyone is recommended the pies. I love the beef pie, we all love it, it’s fresh and delicious, very juicy.nHowever, your pork pie satay pork and pork belly are super smelly, can’t even finish it because of the pork smell. I don’t think it’s fresh.nI would still gave 4stars as I shouldn’t order pork at first place.
Wow this place is busy! The queues can sometimes be 15-20min. Although their pies are delicious and stomach filling, I’m not quite sure it’s worth the hype. But definitely 5 stars for the food. It’s reasonably-ish priced too.
Enjoyed my steak and cheese pie! It was delicious! Crispy and flaky outside with perfectly cooked and juicy meat inside. The place is amazing, very famous in New Zealand . A must try if you’re visiting South Island. The staffs are very friendly and skilled. I love their way of handling and serving customers. The pies worth the que and waiting time.
