I would recommend this bakery for pies! These are the best pies I've ever had! We had steak pepper & mushrooms, creamy chicken, pork belly with apple sauce and salmon & bacon! My favourite pie was steak pepper & mushrooms. It is absolutely worth waiting for a long queue. One of the rare 5 stars of my Google reviews for restaurants, because of the quality of food, ambience, quick serve, good customer services, price based on the quality of the food, cleanness only one public toilet though, and a location!: I will miss these pies very much once I leave the town.
I love meat pies and one of the reasons travelling down to NZ was to try their famous pies! Fairlie warehouse had by far the best pies we have tried so far in the South Isand. The price range was of a higher end but it is definitely worth the value. Fillings are flavorful and cheesy, and the pastry golden and buttery. Definitely worth the stop during your trip.
Mate. These pies are choice. I ordered the following Mince and cheese 5/5 this is a heavy hitter of a pie. The classic. Unbeatable. Quintessential Kiwi. Steak, mushroom and cheese 5/5 another straight up ripper of a pie. How do they do it? Pork belly and apply sauce 3/5 good ingredients, just maybe not a pie. Needs more of that pie goo to hold it together. This is a must stop. Plus, it's cheap as. Pies were all under $9 each. If this place was in Auckland you'd be paying $16 a pie easy as.
Stop the car and treat yourself to a delicious NZ pie! Yes it may be a bit dear but it’s worth every bite. We got the mince and cheese and vegetarian pie. Both outstanding. As well as some delicious coffees! They also have a great selection of sweet treats!
Great pies - flaky exterior, generous fillings. Although $8.5 is a little pricey for the portion size compared to other pie brands. Minimal wait on a weekday afternoon, lots of traffic in store but the lines moved quickly.
One of the best pie shop for sure, visited very often! They opens very early too! Definitely recommend trying out their Salmon and Bacon Pie, the meats filling are generous and cooked to perfection. Also their Pork Belly with Apple Sauce and Crackling Pie worth a try too!
Brother in-law told us to try the pies on our way to his place in Christchurch. We had to do a detour as we were staying in Temuka. OMG, well worth it. Spectacular pies, the best pastry ever. We had trouble choosing so we chose two each. I had the pork & apple sauce pie which has pork crackling on top and the Ultimate steak with mushrooms & cheese. They are full off the fillings with no air pockets like some other pies. Hubby had the venison & cranberry and the mince & cheese and we really enjoyed them. We were hooked with the first bites. I don’t advise having two on one sitting We then ordered some cold ones to take to Christchurch for the brother in-law & his wife. The coffee and service was fantastic. Even when they get busy the queue moves really fast.
Friends and colleagues recommended me to try this place. I was apprehensive seeing the small place. But I was wrong to judge. The staff is super friendly the place was stacked. Que was long but fast. We tried Porkbelly with applesauce and Salmon with bacon. Oh man! One bite.. I became an instant fan of their masterpiece. Best pie I tried in my whole life. No empty space. Got full of juice meat and nice apple sauce to blend with flavors. Best way to start my holiday.
Great food. You must try it. The pie I ate in this restaurant is the best I have ever eaten. Just come to this place, or I will pass by this place. I must try.The service is very friendly. The environment is very warm.
Definitely worth the stop! These pies are delicious, fantastic pastry and packed with filling. Even the “I don’t eat pies” member of our family was raving! Do you have any stockists in the North Island?
