Like all the info centres in new Zealand, there are always all kind of local info you wante and need, plus the lady working there when we arrived was very very warm hearted and knowledgeable. The most enjoyable part in Waihi is Pit Rim Walkway, which has lots of accesses, and one is just cross the road with the info centre. We had a really great time walking through in a light rain
Facilities 5 clean, nice shop Services 5 we did the family package for $159, which included the Discovery experience and tour. First rate interactive exhibits. Guide was knowledgeable on the mining process and tour was put together well. Price and value 5 great value. Spent an hour in the Discovery experience and 2 hours on the tour. Summary 5 awesome for kids and adults and the best attraction in Waihi.
We had the most amazing experience with our guide on the mine tour and wonderful ladies at the information centre today. Incredibly knowledgeable on their subjects and very good with customers. Highly recommend to any ages and even people who have been before as alot has changed in the last 20 years
Quite a cool place to see if you havnt been before not much action takes place, but none the less definitely worth the visit

It was great to learn about the history and current status of gold mining in the Coromandel region. However, don't go on a tour expecting to see huge gold veins or nuggets, as they don't exist like that in this region. This is a different extraction process, still highly worth learning about. Definitely recommend if you're in this area.

We just did the museum not the mine tour. This was fun for the kids but The museum is quite small and you get through it pretty quick, it cost $72 for the family which was way overpriced in comparison to other tourist activities we do. Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend it as a must do due to the cost.
