About Training Days Boxing mixed adults: Monday & Wednesday 7pm Kids Training: Monday & Thursday 6-6.45pm Yoga: Tue, Thurs 9.00- 10.30am and Wednesday Story Training days Mixed Boxing/Fitness: Mondays & Wednesday 7pm Focused on men/women between the ages of 13years up and all fitness levels. We aim to provide clients with a fun filled whole body workout, from general fitness to correct punching and pad technique also available Sparing and Grappling work. Cost for training is $30 per month payable at the beginning of each month Kids Boxing/Fitness: Mon, Thurs 6-6.50pm Focused on fitness and fun, motivation, encouragement, accomplishment, correct punching and pad technique. Cost for training is $20 per month payable at the beginning of each month Yoga: Tue, Thurs 9.00- 10.30am and Wed 5.45-7.15pm These classes are a blend of the above arts music is added to help flow through the exercises. It is suitable for all ages & levels from beginner to advance with a casual approach. To build confidence in young men and women in the community through the sport of boxing 2. To promote fitness and build active lifestyles for people of all fitness levels 3. To train boxers to be successful at an amateur level 4. To train and support people with healthy eating and lifestyle choices 5. To positively promote boxing in the community Introduction: The Paeroa boxing club was originally established by Mr. Esterbrook back in 2001. In 2013 Dan Mikkelsen started a boxing club at home in his double garage, which soon got too small for the number of people showing interest. He decided to look at the opportunity of utilizing the once cherished Paeroa boxing gym, and approached the Old Boys committee. Soon after, he got the green light to open the doors again and restore the place to its former glory. Like most clubs, initially we started with second hand equipment which we raided from friend’s garages, but we soon knew if this was to become the boxing facility we dreamed of it was going to need some serious support. We began looking at ways to fundraise and tender for grants to help purchase new equipment. We recently started a committee with Dan Mikkelsen, Ivan Jacobsen, Gene & Marie Young and Clare and Tane Bradley all dedicated to giving their time to the great community which is Paeroa and the participants of the box fit facility. The club survives on fundraising, donations, and grant applications. The coaches who assist in the club are not paid and all the money raised goes back into paying for new gear, uniforms, travel expenses, tournament expenses and equipment. The Club aims to promote fitness and nutrition and to help build Paeroa’s reputation as a great place to be. We will encourage all people men/women/children to come down and see the safe, fun, healthy family environment which is Paeroa Boxing and Fitness. Trainer’s information: Dan = Kids/Beginners Boxing: With a professional Olympic-style wrestling, boxing and rugby coaching background, Dan will make the most of all his talents to help develop the club. He will ensure the women’s trainings are fun and active while also supporting the men, sports teams and children’s classes that make use of the facility. Gerry = Yoga: She has over 15 years experience of class/group instructing and Over 15 years of ‘hands on body’ work with Ortho-bionomy and more recently Contact Care practitioner, bone pressure release. Ivan: Mixed Boxing: With Over 20 years’ experience in martial arts, boxing & kickboxing. Started in martial arts progressing to second degree black belt moving into kickboxing competively for a few years & eventually running kickboxing clubs locally. The last few years I have been involved in boxing & assistant coaching currently moving towards Level 2 Coaching in Amateur boxing. I get great enjoyment in teaching & training all age groups to a competitive level or just for personal fitness & self-defence.
