About The National Centre for Research on Europe is New Zealand's only research centre devoted to the study of Europe and the European Union. Story The NCRE is New Zealand's leading academic centre of excellence on the EU. It fosters research on the EU that is regionally relevant, such as EU development policy in the Pacific, the EU's identity in the Asia-Pacific region and the external consequences of EU enlargement. The NCRE is firmly established as the focal point for the study of Europe in New Zealand, attracting visiting academics from all over the world. The BA major in European Union studies at Canterbury is the ONLY undergraduate degree that specifically examines the EU from a broad social science perspective taught in New Zealand and Australia. - Only European Union Studies degree offered in Australasia - Multicultural students and staff from over 15 countries - Interdisciplinary focus: politics, law, history, economics, environment, human rights - Open and approachable lecturers - Internships with New Zealand and European embassies - Exchanges and links with European and Asian universities and research centres - Lots of opportunities Canterbury is also an official EU information centre; consequently anything written by or about the EU is as easily available at Canterbury as it is in Paris, Rome, Madrid or Berlin!
