About Community Law Waikato Ph: 0800 529 482 or 07 839 0770 Fax: 07 839 5158 Email: reception@clwaikato.org.nz Website: https://www.clwaikato.org.nz/ Story Who are we? Community Law Waikato (formerly The Hamilton District Community Law Centre) was set up in 1995 to provide free legal help to people who are unable to afford access to justice. We operate in the Waikato area and are one of 24 community law centres nationwide. Our staff includes 2 solicitors in management and can operate on their own account, 6 Solicitors, 1 administrator and full reception team along with a Community Liaison. Although we are a community organisation, our clients expect and deserve a quality service which is confidential, timely and efficient, and at a professional standard which compares with that which they would receive from a private practitioner. We always strive to deliver a friendly and high standard of service to our clients. Our Centre has a client eligibility policy to ensure that our services are targeted at the identified unmet legal need. The eligibility policy takes into account financial means and legal aid eligibility. In the event that an individual does not meet the criteria we refer them to local solicitors or firms. Our services include information, advice, assistance, representation and legal education. We assist with many areas of law including minor criminal matters (such as traffic offences); employment; consumer; debt; neighbourhood disputes; tenancy; ACC, WINZ; Immigration and insurance. We also have an advocate who can help with Work and Income issues. Our office is located in Hamilton but we cover the greater Waikato area. All appointments can be made by phoning 0800 529482, our website https://www.clwaikato.org.nz/ or by contacting the legal outreach clinic. We are able to interview by phone if access is an issue; and we also travel to outreach clinics in the following areas: Tokoroa Monday - Weekly Tokoroa Budget Advisory Service Ph: 07 886 4361 to make an appointment Putaruru Monday - Fortnightly Overdale Community Centre, Ph: 07 883 8771 to make an appointment Huntly Tuesday - Fortnightly Huntly West Hub and Friendship House Ph: 0800 529 482 to make an appointment Tekuiti Tuesday - Fortnightly Ngati Maniapoto Marae Pact Trust Ph: 07 878 0028 to make an appointment Otorohanga Tuesday - fortnightly Otorohanga Citizens Advice Bureau Ph: 07 873 8156 to make an appointment Immigration Clinic Wednesday - Fortnightly Settlement Centre Waikato Ph: 07 853 2192 to make an appointment Paeroa Wednesday - Fortnightly Paeroa Community Support Trust Ph: 07 862 6110 to make an appointment Te Aroha Thursday - Fortnightly Te Aroha CAB Ph: 07 884 8037 to make an appointment Thames Wednesday -Fortnightly Thames Library Ph: 0800 529 482 to make an appointment Ngaruawahia Thursday - fortnightly Ngaruawahia Community House Ph: 07 824 8340 to make an appointment.
