About Akaroa Salmon is reared in the isolated, pristine and picturesque Lucas Bay - a deep water bay on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Story Exquisite, sea-reared salmon, farmed in Canterbury, New Zealand. A family operation established nearly three decades ago, our approach to rearing salmon prioritises the health and welfare of the fish and long term protection of the environment. Based on our small scale and geographical location, we are the only King Salmon producer in New Zealand that can harvest, process and distribute on the same day, often within hours of harvest.
