About The City of Nelson Highland Pipe Band is a Grade 4A band based in Nelson, New Zealand. Story Throughout the year we regularly attend a number of local events and competitions around New Zealand. We do the local ANZAC parade, Rose Day, Isel In Bloom, Masked Parade, market days and Santa Parades. Nationally we attend the winter competition usually held at Waimea Collage in Richmond, Victoria Square Day in Christchurch, the Canterbury Centre Contest, and the NZ Pipe Band Championships each year. The Band is grateful for the help and encouragement of Alastair McEwan, Glen Buchannan, Amanda Duncan, Lewis Hayward, Amelia Chandra and Iain Carr who support the band on a annual basis. The City Of Nelson Pipe Band is a busy, energetic, participatory, fun, yet competitive band and always welcomes new players and people to come and listen. Our band room is located at Guppy Park at the Sun City Darts Club Hall on Sovereign Street, Nelson, New Zealand. We practise 7-9 pm on a Monday night and also Thursday nights leading up to competitions.
