About Active Families Story The Green Prescription Active Families programme is a community based healthy lifestyle initiative designed to increase physical activity in children and young people and their whanau/families. WHAT DO WE OFFER? ACTIVE FAMILIES: Active Families is all about having fun with the family. We will help families set goals around increasing activity and supporting children and their families with healthy eating choices. Home visits are also an option, as well as community-based group sessions and much more! ACTIVE FAMILIES PRE-SCHOOL: This programme works with children and their whanau from the ages of 3-5. These children are identified at their B4 School Check or alternatively from a medical professional as needing further support to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. At home/work visits, access to low cost water activity sessions, healthy cooking classes and weekly group activity sessions are just some of the options you will have on the programme. HOW DO YOU JOIN? Have a chat to your doctor about joining the Green Prescription Programme. It is vital that the information is given by your GP.
